What else? Buddy Gask was my favourite as he has a good name. Singer Dave Bartram was the spittin' image of then Leeds goalie David Harvey, to continue the sporting theme.
Darts (as in Daddy Cool, Duke of Earl) were better.

Surely 'Tiger Feet' by Mud is the pinnacle of this kind of thing, as it appealed to both pre-schools and Oxford dons.

Ah, but everyone is forgetting (or doesn't know about) their legendary double-header gig with Einsturzende Neubauten at the Kilburn National in - what was it, '83?

My friend's nan couldn't get her head around their name, and would pronounce it "Shau-addy-a-day".Drummer Romeo Challenger also played in satanic prog/hard rock band Black Widow, although not on their one decent album (the one with "Come to the Sabbat" on it).I was present at the 1987 Neubauten/Showaddywaddy Kilburn show, as I recall it they killed the serious Germanic mood somewhat. Seemed like a Stevo coke bender kind of idea.
Other than all that, I got nothing.

Seemed like a Stevo coke bender kind of idea.
i always thought it was quite funny, but then i didn't have to endure it, and top trivia about Romeo Challenger being in Black Widow.
Showaddywaddy's Red Star album might have been my first non various artists record purchase. It was that or Darts' Everyone Plays Darts.

The singer's book about their tour of UK caravan parks in the early 2000s has a foreword by Amanda Holden.

Dave Bartram's book is extensively discussed (by Taylor Parkes, David Stubbs, and my old Nottingham mate Al Needham), and quoted from at considerable length, in the most recent episode of the Chart Music podcast:

The section starts at 21:22, the book stuff starts at 30:36.
