Sunday Anthems is the first non-Newman release on New Pornographer/Zumpanoist Carl/A.C. Newman's label. Sounds like Kinks-via-Mtn Goats-via-well, Carl Newman-via-70s glam-singer-songwriter (there are direct riffs on Neil Diamond and Elton John), songs could stand to be tighten up a little, but not much.

I really, really, really like "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" was listening to it on headphones as I was getting off the bus to come into work. Also, "Flo", "Astoria Hotel" and "Sunday Anthems".

is the name a joke on the ninth circuit court of appeals? if not (or even if so) it's terrible

They used to be the Neins, but during a U.S. tour were served with a cease and desist order by the Neins of Amercia.

I like the other The Neins...I just saw them...one dude from Cursive and one dude from Steelpole Bathtub....really cool...kinda Dischordish/Jawboxy stuff but with really cool live tape manipulation...the album Wrath of Circuits is out on Sonic Unyon...

We just brought The Nein here to town in June - they fucking rule. Wrath of Circuits is a fantastic album too.

Anyone in the Northeast should definitely check out The Nein as they are going on tour starting tomorrow for the next week. Definitely for fans of Wire and other such bands
