The interesting thing about the relationship between US garage and UK garage is that it's actually very strong if you listen to them closely. Play Basement Jaxx and Corina Joseph's "Lonely" (from when they were US garage classicists) and then play, I dunno, something from Sunship circa '98, and it could almost be the same artist. (people don't, as a rule, tend to notice just how much UK Garage plays like a condensed encyclopedia of all dance music). And there's a strong acknowledgement of the role of New York and the Paradise Garage within two-step *still* - there's a new dark 2-step producer called "Es-G" (!) whose tracks are all vaguely conceptual pieces about New York.
