Er I couldnt think of any other way to get your attention.

So Pete or anyone else, what's the deal with that NYLPM thing about Death in Vegas from a while back. Admittedly I can't find the particular entry BUT, I recall it saying they were taking a blues rock direction or something. Having heard I must confess IT IS BLUES ROCK........ER NO ACTUALLY ITS ELECTRO. Er......total electro.

What the hell is going on? Perhaps I remember the NYLPM thing wrongly.

NYLPM in bogus news story cribbed from Ananova shocker! Probably. It was with some sadness I finally parted with my one remaining DIV MP3 ("Aisha") but the joke had at last got old.

The new song is one of the singles of the year so far. I know I'm prone to ridiculous overstatement but honestly. It's really good and they've gone TOTALLY back to dance music. It's way better than anything off Contino Sessions and than most of Dead Elvis.

And Timo Maas can fuck off with his good reviews for that crap single of his which basically is "Dirt" by DIV with fiddly production.

Ronan is right DiV have totally changed style - I commented on this on my weblog several weeks ago - the new direction is very spacey detroit electro/deep techno - it is a limited promo only for DJs. Apart from that no further info - however there is an album due late this year.

I heard a Richard Fearless solo record - I don't think it was a Death In Vegas record. Jo Whiley (gah!) played it on the day I wrote that short piece. It sounded for all the world to me like an off cut of Give Out But Don't Give Up. I am not sure whether this record will be released or not, and why it was being played.

I have not heard this new Death In Vegas record yet - but I can assure what I heard was certainly not electro.

Mind you I cop all claims to mentalism since I like the P.O.D. record. Here is what I wrote by the way on the 11 Jan.

"There is worse out there than the guitarist from Faithless forming a new band. Richard Fearless, DJ and front-man of Death In Vegas has a solo project coming out. This is unfortunately since The Contino Sessions was wandering towards the infamous dance/rock crossover hell, therefore first cut from Fearless on his own wanders even further away from dance into bluesy rock. Remember that groundbreaking follow-up ro Screamadelica - Give Out But Don't Give Up? Well it appears Fearless is ploughing much the same furrow. It should tank in the charts, but it is exactly the kind of "real music" that fools people like Jo Whiley into playing it to death. Is Richard Fearless the new David Gray? Surely by accusing him it may make him repent."

A good reference for Fearless's new sound would be his techno/ electro mix cd for Live At The Social Volume III.

I used to like The Contino Sessions. Having it played it work every week really killed it for me. Urgh. However based on his mix cd I can imagine the new album being very good.
