i thought it was a joke a while back when i first heard of it... liz fraser and yann tiersen, what a perfect match.

however, i was in a fnac shop in paris last week and i saw this familiar face peering out from the new release shelf... hmmm, new yann tiersen i thought to myself. i picked it up, forgetting reading about this supposed guest vocal appearance a while back and as i was drawn to the sticker on the front, there it was in white on black, elizabeth fraser! a choir of angels descended upon me and i ran up to the checkout counter with the limited edition in my hand.

it is truly lovely. she is on two tracks, one is vocal elements similar to the cocteau twins output. the second track however has distinguishable lyrics and is so incredibly moving that i sat in the parisian sunshine and 89 degree temperature eating a pierre herme macaron and thought to myself... "i can die happy now."

dominique a. is also on there, one of my favorite male vocalists in this day and age. jane birkin as well!

I've just finished listening to "Kala" now and it's immensely gorgeous.

Welcome!

Wow, thanks for uploading those. They're both great, but 'Mary' is immensely marvy. On first listen, it sounds like a late-period Abba outtake. Fantastic. Can't wait to hear what Liz does on the upcoming Scott Walker album.

Best stuff she's done since "This Love"!

geesh, i did not hear about the scott walker album appearance. amazing! did anyone on this board actually get to the shhhh exhibition at the V&A last year? i missed it by a few days opening time... i was in London until literally two days before it opened. i was very sad to say the least. :( i agree with Lee, though I almost think her finest vocal performance ever was on Teardrop... one of the best popsongs ever written in my very, very humble opinion. this is also putting it up against some amazing work in the cocteau twins canon such as an elan, crushed, carolyn's fingers, fifty-fifty clown, dear heart etc... sorry, getting carried away.

"This Love" is her best vocals since "Teardrop"!

What does the DVD have?

Leeeeeee (Leee), Wednesday, 6 July 2005 17:38 (nineteen years ago)

six months pass...
Anybody know why the copyright info for Blue Bell Knoll is included in the liner notes?
