Hi, I found the song "Death Squad," but don't know where its from. Google says its on Blue Cathedral, but my copy doesn't have the track. So what's the deal?

Apparently there was a sub-pop promo issue of Blue Cathedral with a bonus disc comprised of live recordings from WFMU. Might be from the WFMU disc.

That makes sense, but oddly enough, the google listings for the track list in alongside all of the other tracks that DID make it to the final pressing (no additional tracks beside the final eight and this one).

Weird. I looked up the track and band name and a review came up with a track listing for Blue Cathedral. Sure enough, Death Squad was on it.

I wonder if the promo album had a different track listing?

I love that album!

The Sub Pop promo only had one track from the FMU sesh, but Julian Cope bootlegged the whole thing. Heads up that Comets are playing again on the show this Tuesday afternoon btwn 3 and 6 (it was prerecorded and came out AMAZIN'). Listen in if you can: www.wfmu.org -- it will be archived later at www.wfmu.org/Playlists/BT.

I loved BC as well, need to check out some older albums by them. What other album should I check out first if I really dig the latest one?

BeeOK: Check out "Field Recordings From The Sun." I don't like the first one so much. If you can find a copy, the live LP-onle "Bong Voyage" is pretty cool too.

Has anyone heard the collaboration with Burning Star Core?

Ditto on the "Field Recordings"

Download the WFMU session from Soulseek, too. It's ferocious.

The promo cardboard thingie Sub Pop put out right after Blue Cathedral is great if you can find it. It's got all outtakes, two radio session segments (fmu and wmbr) and these long, great jams that sound like Parson Sound/Int'l Harvester or something. And there's a solo oscillator Noel freakout on there too.

Please forgive the self-plug, but you really need to check out this tuesday's upcoming live set if you liked the 1st --- it completely shreds and the engineer really went above and beyond with the twin gtr mix.

and in the chorus i'm increasingly POSITIVE that he says

"Simonize the bong" at the end of the chorus

need a second opinion.

I think it's "bomb," not bong.
