Seeing them on Wednesday just got a little sweeter. And a lot more sad.

i echo the above sentiments but wonder if they also felt they had run out of steam. the first two releases were incredible. i play them quite often . this last one just does not hit me the same way. i didn't really consider buying the peel session. just glad i got a chance to see them play on their 'suicide invoice' tour.

Ugh. What a fucking bummer.

Brooker Buckingham (Brooker B), Saturday, 2 July 2005 17:46 (nineteen years ago)

FUCK! that is so goddamn lame - Audit in Progress was one of my favorite albums of last year, and I thought it was the best one they'd ever done. At least I got to see them before the called it a day...a fucking amazing show, by the way.

I guess this means that Mario will become Pinback's touring drummer in the meantime, since Pinback are looking for one. (which is hardly surprising, since Mario once was the drummer for Thingy)

...only upside i can come up with :: maybe this means we will get another rftc release soon.

william (william), Saturday, 2 July 2005 19:38 (nineteen years ago)

Hmm. Don't count on that.

Anyway, sad news. Glad I was able to catch them once at least -- and at the Casbah at that.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 2 July 2005 21:52 (nineteen years ago)

I've become a bit detached from the SD rock gossip circles since i moved north and the atomjack list kinda died, but don't count on another RFTC album? This is interesting, indeed.

I mean, Reis definitely needs a break, poor guy. He can take two years off and do nothing, and it still won't be enough to make up for the sweat and travelling and hard work he's put into his bands since he first started rocking.

donut e- (donut), Saturday, 2 July 2005 22:15 (nineteen years ago)

That's more what I meant, good Mr. D. -- I was thinking more about your own observations about all his non-RTFC work. Still, didn't they just play a show with Pinback in San Diego, or are about to?

Yeah Ned, there was an all day thing at Coors Ampitheater, I think, and Rocket played. Just last month or so.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Sunday, 3 July 2005 00:12 (nineteen years ago)

oh man that sucks.

mrjosh (mrjosh), Sunday, 3 July 2005 10:51 (nineteen years ago)

They were awesome. The songs off Audit In Progress seem to sound a lot more like the first two records when played live. No 'Our Work Fills The Pews' though.

Glad I got to see them before they split.

acidmouth (acidmouth), Wednesday, 6 July 2005 13:58 (nineteen years ago)

I liked them but I never saw them doing anything better than Rocket (well the GOOD RFTC stuff) or Jehu. RIP though.
