"I wandered again/ To my home in the mountains/ Where in youth's early dawn / I was happy and free/ I look for my friends/ But I never could find 'em/ I found they were all/ Rank strangers to me
Everybody I met/ Seem to be a rank stranger/ No mother or dad/ Not a friend could I see/ They knew not my name/ And I knew not their faces --/I found they were all/ Rank strangers to me
"They've all moved away," / Said the voice of a stranger/ "To that beautiful shore/ By the bright crystal sea."/ Some beautiful day/ I'll meet 'em in Heaven/ Where no one will be/ A stranger to me" (Stanley Bros.) Everybody I met Seem to be a rank stranger; No mother or dad, Not a friend could I see. They knew not my name And I knew not their faces -- I found they were all Rank strangers to me.

(Courtesy the Stanley Brothers, I think). Remember, not every auteur can be a diva, but every diva is an auteur.

Close but no cigar, dave (& you were on such a great streak on brit-soul & j-pop & all...). DC's heaven is *on earth* in their own trinity. More accurate reading of Survivor = "it's lonely when you tell yourself you're at the top".

I LOVE Rank Stranger!!! Sterling you're just confusing everyone.

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 5 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

That's what I'm here for.

Sterling Clover, Tuesday, 5 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

hey i tht i was what *i* was here for?!?

Are you people honestly analyzing the "lyrical content" of Destiny's Child???!?!?!?!?!

What's next, an in-depth discussion about the multi-dimensional nature of Samantha Fox's "Naught Girls Need Love To!"

*HONOR THE FIRE!* Hahahahahahahahahaaha

Alex in NYC, Tuesday, 5 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Naught Girls? Are these like quantum gurlz who aren't really there at all?

Sterling Clover, Tuesday, 5 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

How do they relate to Tesla Girls?

Tom, Tuesday, 5 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh no, they do not move me. Even though I've seen the movie.

Sterling Clover, Tuesday, 5 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The tesla girls, as we should all know, are testing out theory, but heaven knows, heaven knows, heaven knows their recipe. ;)

Norman Phay, Wednesday, 6 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

NO NO NO...ooooOOOOOOOONNNNNN!

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 6 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

And Alex wrote "to" rather than "too".

Robin Carmody, Wednesday, 6 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

so then this begs the question of what naught girls need love to do. perhaps to cease being naughts. I like that title a great deal.. something a Kid606 track should be named.

Sterling Clover, Thursday, 7 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

And Sterling wrote "begs" the question instead of "invites" the etc. You kids with your gasoline-powered surreys!

Tracer Hand, Thursday, 7 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I am so confused about what 'begs the question' actually means that I avoid using it altogether.

N., Thursday, 7 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I tend to avoid with a very wide margin people standing next to me in the pub using the words "begs the question" or "invites the question." Surely up there in terms of social death with "secondly" (as in: "That raises three interesting points - first-LY . . . second- LY") or "indeed" ("Good morning Interchangeable Local Radio DJ - and it is a good morning isn't it?" "In-DEED, Colin!").
