ANNIE
Announces special 12" series with Erol Alkan

Annie in conjunction with her friend & London based DJ/ producer Erol
Alkan (Trash & Bugged Out) announce a special collectable DJ friendly
vinyl only series for summer 2005 on 679 Recordings. These releases mix
tracks from Annieʼs celebrated debut 'Anniemal' album, with some of the
most exciting production and new remix talent around. Alkan's
involvement comes at Annie's bequest and he has set out to find people
who would "create a series of vinyl featuring the remixing talents of
producers who are setting my dancefloor on fire. There's also the
benefit of being first to have these mixes."

The first release see's Annie pitted against one of the UK's finest
young electronic pioneers as the irrepressible Riton, takes album
standout 'Happy Without You' on a joyous electro rub-down - available
here as both a vocal and instrumental cut, On the flip comes Paris
based underground maestro Sebastien, with a dramatic reworking. This
collectable coloured Blue vinyl 12" will be released on July 11th on
679 to be followed by two further 12"s over the Summer months, with
some very special names being lined up including Joakim and The Rapture
amongst others. The release will be preceded as an iTunes download
exclusive.

This is continuation of Annie's rich history on the dancefloor, which
since her Telle Records debut 'The Greatest Hit', has seen her not only
release a brace of seminal dance anthems, but a long history of remixes
and collaborations from some of the most innovative names across the
world of dance including the likes of Richard X, Royksopp, Freeform
Five, Op:l bastards, Maurice Fulton, Headman, Mylo, Alan Braxe & Y£$ to
name but a few. Annie is currently touring the world with her own
ANNIEMIX DJ set across the world, which hits the UK later this month
as guests to St.Etienne, plus dates at Sonar, Isle of MTV, Manumission
and across the US (where her album is currently receiving rave
reviews). She is currently planning to return to the UK for a series
of shows and special parties - watch this space for details.

woah!

piscesboy, Monday, 4 July 2005 13:30 (twenty years ago)

I think the diversity of lyrics, moods and themes on some Anniemal tracks certainly warrants a bit more diversity of remixes than a round of nu disco efforts.

Negativa, True Believer (Sheryl Crow in a Britney costume) (Barima), Monday, 4 July 2005 13:44 (twenty years ago)

cool beans!

Just wish they could get someone more interesting than Riton and The Rapture. If you really need the obligatory indie supahstah, was Carlos D too busy or something?

Xii (Xii), Monday, 4 July 2005 15:22 (twenty years ago)

or else they were looking for people who have at least a bit of credibility in the dance world?

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 4 July 2005 15:41 (twenty years ago)

Or just people that the Trash Crew would predictably lurve?

Steve Sutherland's shiny Oasis-loving head, Monday, 4 July 2005 16:18 (twenty years ago)

Exciting! This had better get a CD release at some point...

Telephonething (Telephonething), Monday, 4 July 2005 17:45 (twenty years ago)

looks good. i have a remix of "hearbeat" by the field which is more interesting than good.

jermaine (jnoble), Monday, 4 July 2005 17:54 (twenty years ago)

i have a remix of "hearbeat" by the field which is more interesting than good.

Where's that from? I'd be interested to hear it.

Xii (Xii), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 00:55 (twenty years ago)

It's from their demo CD.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 01:03 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, that's definately more interesting than good. Its not a remix so much as a pretty standard Field track that just happens to have a chunk of Heartbeats in the middle.

how is Joakim nu disco exactly? or Riton for that matter?

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 17:18 (twenty years ago)

Did anyone ever d/l the freebie remix of 'Always Too Late' recently? It 'twas a grime effort, I believe, but I have no idea what it's like or whether to hunt it down.

BARMS, Tuesday, 5 July 2005 17:27 (twenty years ago)

i just got asked to do one of these. i think mine will be nu metal.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 17:33 (twenty years ago)

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 17:45 (twenty years ago)

More interesting directions for Annie remixes to take:

Nu soul
Nu jazz (a lie)
Nu metal
Nu rock
Nu Shibuya-Kei
Nu skiffle
Nu waffles
Nuevo wave
Nuevo cuisine
Nuevo nu
Nu nu metal
Justified Ancients of Nu Nu

BARMS, Tuesday, 5 July 2005 18:06 (twenty years ago)

Nu-Tella

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 18:11 (twenty years ago)

ahahahahahah......hmmm

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 18:11 (twenty years ago)

stirmonster (stirmonster), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 18:12 (twenty years ago)

Annie - 'Deez Nu-t(elle)s In Your Mouth' (Royksopp Nu-Twee Remix)

BARMS, Tuesday, 5 July 2005 18:12 (twenty years ago)

BARMS, Tuesday, 5 July 2005 18:13 (twenty years ago)

i don't have a clue what it is bit i'm going to be all over the nu shibuya-kei bandwagon.

Twitch, I can do you some YSIs if you'd like.

BARMS, Tuesday, 5 July 2005 18:15 (twenty years ago)

i thought you'd invented it! is it like towa tei or something?

stirmonster (stirmonster), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 18:19 (twenty years ago)

Yes, a bit. Though it seems to be far more playful and ADD for the most part. Also, it's actually Neo Shibuya-Kei, if you're not Japanese, I guess.

I'll keep "Nu Shibuya-Kei" though! We can develop it together.

BARMS, Tuesday, 5 July 2005 18:24 (twenty years ago)

Huuh! Cool! Thanks!

Nicole (StarShine), Wednesday, 6 July 2005 09:05 (twenty years ago)

Erol on Trash board: basically, i'm organising a bunch of remixes for her, pairing the songs with remixers who will do a good job and rework the tracks into great club tracks. the mixes which are in already are really, really good.. the riton mix is killer, sebastians is simply mental, and joachim has delivered the best mix he has ever done.
theres no master plan with it all, it really is a case of me picking my favourite producers and pairing them off with annie's vocals..
and i get to have the tracks first. bingo!

Nicole (StarShine), Wednesday, 6 July 2005 12:11 (twenty years ago)

holy shit, if Joakim has really done that I am drooling already!

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 7 July 2005 00:59 (twenty years ago)

two months pass...
joakim remix is indeed sorted : glitchy acid fried techno.

anyone else heard this new set ? i totally love the patrick wolf version of 'helpless fool for love'.

mark e (mark e), Monday, 12 September 2005 14:36 (twenty years ago)

has this been released or did you get a promo/dwnld? love to hear any new mixes of Annie...also still need the Joshua dub of I Will Get On and/or Greatest Hit.

biz, Monday, 12 September 2005 14:51 (twenty years ago)
