I was thinking about this question, trying to come up with some good album covers that involve the songs on the album. here's the only ones I can come up with

Prince & The Revolution - Around the World in a Day

Of Montreal - The Gay Parade

Is there any other ones?

Michael Costello (MichaelCostello1), Monday, 4 July 2005 23:16 (twenty years ago)

Is there? You bet them is!

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Monday, 4 July 2005 23:23 (twenty years ago)

Is that album good if I'm not a big fan of Janis Joplin?

Michael Costello (MichaelCostello1), Monday, 4 July 2005 23:26 (twenty years ago)

Probably not. There's no way to ignore her and focus just on the instrumental parts.

Too bad for you — it's a great record.

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Monday, 4 July 2005 23:32 (twenty years ago)

I'll give it a try. Maybe it's the record that will turn me around and make me love her.

See the back cover of The Gun Club's Fire of Love.

King Crimson's Lizard.

I'm sure there's more that'll come to mind...

beatles help ( not that it spells help)

Do you mean covers that illustrate each song on the album? The first thing that comes to mind is the inner pictures on Faust - So Far but that doesn't exactly count.

The Future Bible Heroes - Memories of Love:

The back cover has an illustration for each song:

and the booklet has a puzzle for each song, where you have to work out the lyrics, except I can't find a pic of them and can't be bothered plugging my scanner in.

And, yeah, both this one and the King Crimson above illustrate every song.

All of the songs on this album are represented on the cover and it's good fun working them out - tho it only really works if you've got the vinyl version:

Although this only really involves one song on the album (actually two, if you include the number 13).

That last one is rather unfortunate, obv.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 18:17 (twenty years ago)

how many of the songs on the album are actually about blood/spoof cocktails?

Okay, it's the sleeve not the cover but Daniel Johnston's Yip/Jump music sprang to mind as worthy of a mention here:

Disco Inferno's 'In Debt' has little illustrations about each song on the inside cover.

Oh yeah! I forgot about that! Good call, Sasha.

I can't find a good image, but I think the Foreigner Head Games cover has song titles written on the bathroom stall in red.

OK, it's more the lyric "Fire in the disco" but it's the best I could come up with.

The Four Seasons' 1969 "Genuine Imitation Life Gazette" had a cover that consisted of a newspaper front-page with stories corresponding to the songs. (Sorry, don't know how to post the image.)

In a weird twist on this theme, the cover art of Counting Crows' "August and Everything After" featured part of the handwritten lyrics of a song that was not included on the record.

Didn't Rocket To Russia have little Holmstrom cartoons on the lyric sheet? My CD does;don't know about the LP.

jethro tull - war child (one of the first albums i owned, oddly enough) is a great example of this, if somebody wants to post it.
