Debbie Harry solo - C/D?

Has this been asked? If not, I'm askin'. No way does it compare to Blondie, but there've been wonderful moments: "Rush Rush" from the Scarface soundtrack, "French Kissin' in the USA," "In Love With Love," "I Can See Clearly," and the fantastic Thompson Twins-penned "I Want That Man," which does rank with the best of Parallel Lines and Eat To The Beat.

sadly (i assume) i only know the songs you mention. which are of course all excellent. i choose to extrapolate from this that her solo career is entirely fantastic.

I never heard her albums but Blondie is good, why not here?

Classic (Just because she's Debbie Harry)

Her 1st solo album, Koo, is really boring, and that is coming from a diehard Blondie fanatic. I haven't heard her jazz stuff.

WDRE played the hell out of the Def, Dumb, and Blonde singles the first semester of my sophomore year. "I Want That Man" was a sweet slice of summer that stayed up late and somehow found itself out 'til all hours at Limelight, the Tunnel, Palladium... "Sweet and Low" less of a dancer, but no less all over WDRE, god bless 'em.

Debbie Harry is beyond classic, and she's given us some great singles. That's all I'm-a say.

KooKoo isn't horrible exactly, but seeing as it's produced by Chic, it really ought to be leagues better than it is.

Debbie sings back-up on two songs on the "Dee Dee King" (Dee Dee Ramone: the rapper) album I have: 'In The Spotlight'. It is a tragic recording, truly terrible, and therefor delicious.

I no longer own "Rush Rush." I need to rectify this.

I recently dug out an ancient mixtape I made when KooKoo was new, which contained "The Jam Was Moving" and "Inner City Spillover." Goofy but fun attempts at funk and reggae. Yeah, Debbie produced by Chic should have been better overall, but I still rate it over Rockbird, Def Dumb and Blonde and Debravation. A nice cut or two from each of those, so not dud, but I haven't played any as a complete album in more than a decade.

seventeen years pass...

So I'm dumbstruck that I was, what, 12 when this was a rather big urban dance hit in its Stock-Aitken-Waterman remix form yet I didn't know Debbie Harry co-wrote it (with Chris Stein!).

"In Love With Love" is foundational Miami freestyle.
