So, I love DJ Shadow and am rediscovering The Yohimbe Brothers...what else should I listen to?

Have I missed the boat on a lot of this stuff or does someone know how I can catch up and then start going to hear it live? Please!

Well, in the instrumental hip-hop direction there's stuff like Prefuse 73. In the sampling/plunderphonics direction there's People Like Us and Cassette Boy. There's also Donna Summer aka Jason Forrest who takes it in a more IDM/electronic direction.

Forrest is fun to see live.

Blockhead rocks... check him out immediately: "Music by Cavelight"

Blockhead seconded. He got a lot of flak when Music by Cavelight came out- the received wisdom was that he has weak drums, which I don't hear at all, and a lot of people ragged on his use of Kanye-style chipmunk vocals- but about half of the album is freaking brilliant. Try "Bullfight in Ireland" or "Sunday Seance" to get a taste.

Also Sixtoo's instrumental work- Duration and Chewing Glass & Other Miracle Cures. The latter has a batshit-loco guest vocal from Damo Suzuki on the penultimate track, it's great.
