Introducing The Instruments: "Guitar!" (when did this begin?)

I thought this was mainly a tendency of the rocker, but then I heard some ancient bluegrass yesterday where the crusty ol' singer yelps "geetar!", which caused me to wonder when/where this custom actually began.
