Has anyone ever heard of Pierrot Lunaire?

I'm getting his S/T album now and from what I hear in the first song, it's really, really good.

not a 'he' but a 'they' - Arturo Stalteri and Gaio Chiocchio. S/T (AS, GC + Vincenzo Caporaletti) is a lovely slice of baroque pop, Roma style, that i enjoy foisting on friends who love 4AD and the like. but Gudrun (exit VC, enter operatic wonder Jacqueline Darby), the jazz-damaged Schönbergian prog-psych opus that followed, is even better. one of the most gloriously fucked albums of all time.

I'm guessing the group name "Pierrot Lunaire" was taken from the Schoenberg piece. I really like both albums, but "Gudrun" is one of my favourites of the italian progressive music. Arturo Staltieri made some solo records afterward - I only ever had one of him playing Brian Eno music. It was nice enough, but I wasn't too keen on it, likely because I'm not much of a Brian Eno fan.

So OTM. Steven Stapleton wishes he could make an album this fucked up and beautiful.

Staltieri's Andre Sulla Luna is highly recommended, too, if you're into Terry Riley (and who in his/her right mind isn't?).
