most of all the one of the ones that cannot (it seems) be mentioned. you know the one i'm talking about.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 8 July 2005 10:08 (twenty years ago)

when i say "most of them" i mean that i have not heard scott or scott 2.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 8 July 2005 10:11 (twenty years ago)

"I'm just getting into Scott Walker"

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Friday, 8 July 2005 13:26 (twenty years ago)

good for you.

jed_ (jed), Friday, 8 July 2005 15:46 (twenty years ago)

Scott 3, I guess.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 8 July 2005 15:47 (twenty years ago)

Probably "Scott 2", if "all" is not acceptable.

Billy Pilgrim (Billy Pilgrim), Friday, 8 July 2005 16:17 (twenty years ago)

It really depends.. I'm in Scott/Scott 2 moods, then I'm in Scott 3/Scott 4 moods, then I'm in Climate Of Hunter moods.. and occasionally I want to retreat into Tilt for a very long time.

donut e- (donut), Friday, 8 July 2005 16:18 (twenty years ago)

I've been digging '60s Walker for a while, but I finally heard one of his '70s "rock" albums and it was fantastic. Shit, I can't rememebr the name though. Anybody? Damn was it great.

Justin Farrar (Justin Farrar), Friday, 8 July 2005 16:19 (twenty years ago)

Til The Band Comes In?

Donut otm.

Leon C. (Ex Leon), Friday, 8 July 2005 16:31 (twenty years ago)

i need to get "Climate...".

jed_ (jed), Friday, 8 July 2005 16:32 (twenty years ago)

y'know what's rilly rilly good? Scott's cuts on the Walker Brother's Nite Flights (1978): "Fat mama Kick," "Shut Out," the very spooky "Electrician" and the thrilling title cut.

the other tunes are by the other Walker bros, and are thus utter piffle.

veronica moser (veronica moser), Friday, 8 July 2005 17:13 (twenty years ago)

climate of hunter!!

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Friday, 8 July 2005 17:27 (twenty years ago)

shut out = scott walker disco, or am I thinking of another track?

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Friday, 8 July 2005 17:41 (twenty years ago)

No, you're otm, Dan.

Also, the box is fantastic.

Naive Teen Idol (Naive Teen Idol), Friday, 8 July 2005 17:47 (twenty years ago)

i have an article on scott walker that goes up on tuesday. my favorite of the original four is probably scott 4.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 8 July 2005 17:49 (twenty years ago)

i loathe his ingmar bergman 'adaptation' on that one

yes shut out is discoriffic

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Friday, 8 July 2005 17:51 (twenty years ago)

you should see the video, scott wears a sweatband and pulls out some crazy moves on the dancefloor

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Friday, 8 July 2005 17:52 (twenty years ago)

what other songs does he have that are like "hero of the war" and "get behind me"? also, does he scat on many other of his songs?

albrecht, Friday, 8 July 2005 17:55 (twenty years ago)

what other songs does he have that are like "hero of the war" and "get behind me"?

Are these songs supposed to be in the same style?

Naive Teen Idol (Naive Teen Idol), Friday, 8 July 2005 17:58 (twenty years ago)

no, but they're relatively upbeat and energetic, and sound to me to be the most accessible on the album. and they have scatting.

albrecht, Friday, 8 July 2005 18:05 (twenty years ago)

4 is a bit inconsistent style-wise and quality wise, but mostly great. I also have no time for the Bergman song, but do love the faux-soul of Get Behind Me. My favorite songs are probably on 2, but 3 flows the best as a total record, maybe that's just because I got 3 first. I actually don't have 1.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Friday, 8 July 2005 18:10 (twenty years ago)

"hero of the war" upbeat?!

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Friday, 8 July 2005 20:11 (twenty years ago)

seven months pass...
can someone provide me a link to a chronological list of ALL the scott stuff? it's maddeningly hard to work out what goes where after SCOTT 1-4.

thanks.

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 13 February 2006 12:47 (twenty years ago)

Between Til The Band Comes In and Nite Flights there are a few nice covers here and there, but nothing essential unless you're a hardcore fan.

jz, Monday, 13 February 2006 13:35 (twenty years ago)

make a good compilation from all 4 records, and youll have the best walker record.(cause there are weak tracks in all of them)
though most critics would say "4".

bibi, Monday, 13 February 2006 14:34 (twenty years ago)

i can't find my copy of "nite flight"

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 13 February 2006 16:50 (twenty years ago)

ive never understood people's hate/indifference toward "the seventh seal." its not my favorite song on scott 4 (it has been before, though!), but its great!

i like 4>3>1>tilt=first 4 from nite flights>2>climate of hunter>rest of nite flights, but theyre totally all keepers.

pssst - badass revolutionary art! (plsmith), Monday, 13 February 2006 16:58 (twenty years ago)
