it's my single of the year. if it's from this year. is the album good? i might have to buy it. is fatty coo the greatest name of the century? "Bounce" has a lot going on. on the radio, they played it right after an awesome techno remix of listen to your heart by roxette.

have you seen their reality show on BET, Blowin' Up Fatty Koo? I guess it's kind of like Making The Band, except they're like a bunch of R&B singers and one or two rappers, and Da Band was a bunch of rappers and one R&B singer. I'm in love with the Venezuelan chick from Fatty Koo.

Al (sitcom), Saturday, 9 July 2005 12:17 (twenty years ago)

NO! I haven't seen it. Holy Toledo, I will look for that.

scott seward (scott seward), Saturday, 9 July 2005 12:54 (twenty years ago)

man, I just got this today from Sony, I am now officially convinced to remove the shrinkwrap.

Josh Love (screamapillar), Saturday, 9 July 2005 12:59 (twenty years ago)

tell me how it is, josh. maybe bounce is the only good thing on it.

I was way more curious before I heard that Roxette remix described as awesome. I'm still very curious though.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Saturday, 9 July 2005 16:39 (twenty years ago)

REVIVE!!!

Josh, did you listen to the album?

scott seward (scott seward), Monday, 11 July 2005 21:27 (twenty years ago)

What's the DVD track called "John Lennon Educational Bus" about???

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Monday, 11 July 2005 21:29 (twenty years ago)

Fatty Koo is the worst group name since Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Monday, 11 July 2005 21:31 (twenty years ago)

it's more of a dancehall name.

scott seward (scott seward), Monday, 11 July 2005 21:32 (twenty years ago)

i just read on the internet that it is short for "phat ass cootchie".

scott seward (scott seward), Monday, 11 July 2005 21:39 (twenty years ago)

which is exactly why it amazes me that a show called Blowin' Up Fatty Koo is being aired on basic cable.

Al (sitcom), Monday, 11 July 2005 21:44 (twenty years ago)

Revive!

Hey Josh, how's the album!?

Great name, and just wait until you hear the album. You'll want to "Shake," "Bounce" and "Bounce (Bounce)" with these six young stars of BET's unscripted "Blowin' Up! Fatty Koo." But don't get the wrong idea. All but one of the Koo, ages 15 to 20, met each other in Columbus, Ohio, long before the show, on board the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, where they wrote and recorded together.

The final piece of the puzzle joined later, bringing a soulful helping of gospel, r&b and hip-hop to add to an appealing mix of funk flavors ("Fatty Koo"), soaring operatic vocals ("H.O.F.K.") and deep house grooves ("Tight").

Think Destiny's Child, Backstreet Boys and Usher all rolled into one. Of course, not everything here is Fatty phat - "Chills" is a track far too icy for a group destined to be hot.

FATTY KOO
Album Title: House of Fatty Koo
Producer(s): Toby Gad, Ron Riley
Genre: R&B
Label/Catalog Number: DASLabel/Sony Urban Music/Columbia
Source: Billboard Magazine
Originally Reviewed: July 23, 2005

After giving audiences a taste of what was to come on its BET reality show, "Blowin' Up!: Fatty Koo," it's time for the Ohio-based quintet to prove that it really has what it takes for the big time. One quick listen to "House of Fatty Koo" showcases soaring vocals and catchy, radio-friendly beats. Unfortunately, closer scrutiny reveals cookie-cutter lyrics that fail to help the group live up to its potential. On opener "Shake," it boasts of popping Cristal and buying out the bar—even though four members are under 21. If they're not talking about drinking their little hearts out, they seem to be obsessed with girls bouncing and shaking their fatty koos. It's when they step away from the partying that the act begins to shine, like on the beautiful "Chills." —Ivory M. Jones
