18th Century Music, Outside of Europe and the Americas

In reading about Karnatak music in a haphazard way, I've been intrigued to find that some of the key composers of that repertoire come from the 18th century. It makes me wonder else what else was happening at that time. I'll have to see if I can dig up anything on music in the Arab world in the 18th century. But do we have any experts or even pseudo-experts on 18th century music in parts of the world outside of Europe or the New World?

I think it took me a long while to shake off the idea that traditional non-western music would either be "We have been playing this music for thousands of years," rather than, "And then in the 19th century there was a revival of some of the forgotten Syrian Andalusian repertoire."

Or I could take the free Suicide Girls tour again.
