i told stence a while ago that if you're into them you might like Osibisa. they're an african band that moved to London and mixed psych rock, funk and traditional music. and they have roger dean album covers. i wouldn't say they're anywhere as good as cymande, but usually the records are less than 5$

nothing tops 'the message'! owing to what was possibly a coldcut radio show i taped and rinsed i forever mentally pair it with eugene mcdaniels 'jagger the dagger'.

this is true. also, i don't think i've seen 'the recluse' get mentioned often.

has this record been reissued or is it a weird fluke that I have seen a sealed copy?

i've got a reissued record but i got that like 8 yrs ago

"dove" is what jam bands are supposed to sound like but almost never do.

(the real version is 10 minutes, and all good.)

i thank Kinobe for introducing me to this track a few years back having just put some extra drums on it and calling it their own

i just got the collectables label compilation. seems like kind of a mishmash of the first three albums -- and could use some remastering -- but it's pretty great.

(was turned onto them by the track included on the grandfather paradox mix.)

sanctuary did a 2cd set of the first 3lps as The Message.

A track was in that 25th Hour film in the Disco scene as far as I can remember. Was that Bra? Been a long time since I saw the film but that struck me. Possibly cos I had the 2cd set.

checking Amazon prives the set looks OOP unfortunately.

i've really really loved "willy's headache" after it (also) came up on my spotify recs several times but haven't been able to get into anything else

Nothing against the article, and thanks for the link, but I hate presumptuous, patronising headlines like this.

This is just anecdotal, but I feel like over the last decade or so "Brothers on the Slide" has become more of a retro-funk staple — I hear it on the radio and even out in stores and so forth.

"Brothers on the Slide" deserves all the recognition it gets.

Anyone knows if the self titled album will get a 50th anniversary reissue? I’ve been wanting to have this album on vinyl for years but every copy I’ve found is prices very high.
