I love how lawyered-out the plot synopsis is:
"LAST DAYS is filmmaker Gus Van Sant's fictional meditation on the inner turmoil that engulfs a brilliant, but troubled, musician in the final hours of his life."

Who wrote/sings the fake-Nirvana song in the trailer? Pitt himself? He gets the voice right but the chord progression is way too broad for Kurt.

Thurston Moore wrote them.

that's all part of the lawyering-out process

Has anyone seen the movie? Any good?

I can imagine exactly what i will be like. Kim Gordon's acting in the trailer is terrible. I can't help but think of her little deadpan monologue from "Kool Thing"!

This looks really bad.

"You can get away from here...There's something I go to ask you. I just wanna know, what are you gonna do for me? I mean, are you gonna liberate us girls from male white corporate oppression?"

God, that looks dull.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 17:29 (twenty years ago)

I didn't know there would be *music* involved. Now I'm mildly intrigued (I like out-and-out pastiche, like the glam stuff in Velvent Goldmine... or the girl-group travesties in Grace of My Heart... or even the songs in That Thing You Do).

Now there's an interesting mix CD in the making.

On another note, why am I not surprised that the film's KU4DT 608A1N is wearing a lace teddy?

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 17:32 (twenty years ago)

just read the Village Voice's orgy of coverage (they're treating it as a major event, with five or six writers on the case); turns out the song is by Michael Pitt himself (!), who sings in a band (!!) that has just played Pianos (!!!).

wtf? why?

latebloomer: occasionally OTM (latebloomer), Thursday, 14 July 2005 22:46 (twenty years ago)

wow, this looks like it could be the worst movie ever, and we haven't even glimpsed Asia Argento's "acting" yet.

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Friday, 15 July 2005 00:58 (twenty years ago)

hmm... I read that Thurston moore was the muscial director of the film. Oh well.

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Friday, 15 July 2005 01:00 (twenty years ago)

The more photos I saw, the more ill I felt. At least the Velvet Goldmine was an out and out piece of crap. This is like crap masquerading as art...I don't want to see this movie. Happy with my albums & box set thanx very much gus, bye.
