Introducing Myself

I found ILX by searching google for side projects of Thomas Banglater, and it's become my most compulsively checked site. I've posted a few times, so I figure it's time to introduce myself properly. I live in San Jose and I work as an installer at a local history museum/park. I'm originally from Texas, married, and an MFA graduate from San Jose State U.

The first piece of music that I remember is "My Toot Toot," by Rockin' Sydney. I remember going to Wal-Mart with my mom and picking it out of a rack of 45's. I grew up in the woods near Huntsville (death row capital, USA) without MTV or any sort of radio. I liked what my parents listened to which was Rod Stewart, Alabama, Springsteen, Eddie Rabbitt (sp?), and loads of things so boring that I don't remember them anymore. Around 4th grade a friend got me into Bon Jovi, which led our school counselor to believe that I may have been getting mixed up with the Devil. So naturally I went to Alice Cooper's warm embrace. The first CD's I owned were xmas presents given to me by my father, The Best Of Dr. Hook, which I still have, and a New Kids On The Block album which I immediately returned in exchange for an Alice Cooper best-of. At some point in high school I made friends who had better musical taste and I began listening to R.E.M. R.E.M. led me to the Velvet Underground which in turn led me to everything else that is good in the world. My current faves are the Flaming Lips, Low, Super Furry Animals, Spiritualized & Spacemen 3, and loads of other stuff. I like all kinds of music, including soul, country, jazz, gospel, techno, pretty much anything as long as it's good. Because I learned about music by reading about it, I will often be very familiar with something like the Shaggs yet will never have heard a Big Song That Everybody Knows. Which is kinda fun.

I feel like I have to restrain myself around friends, because I don't want to talk about music constantly. This site is a lot of fun, and I appreciate the good sense of humour that most of ya'll have. So it's good to be here, and I look forward to much further reading!

Don't mess with my toot toot
Don't mess with my toot toot
I know you have another woman
So, don't mess with my toot toot

When I was born in my birth suit,
The doctor slapped my behind
He said, "You're gonna be special,
You sweet little toot toot"

Now, you can look as much
But if you much as touch,
You're gonna have yourself a case
I'm gonna break your face

So, don't mess with my toot toot
Don't mess with my toot toot
I know you have another woman
So, don't mess with my toot toot
Oh yeah!

D'oh! Not great lyrics! I got them from a cover version with the genders switched. As it should be:

Don't mess with my toot toot
Don't mess with my toot toot
I know you have the other woman
So, don't mess with my toot toot

When she was born in her birth suit,
The doctor slapped her behind
He said, "You're gonna be special,
You sweet little toot toot"

Now, you can look as much
But if you much as touch,
You're gonna have yourself a case
I'm gonna break your face

So, don't mess with my toot toot
Don't mess with my toot toot
I know you have another woman
So, don't mess with my toot toot
Oh yeah!

This lyric is insufficient non-minimalist, presume to make up for the amelodic rhythm-dominate accordian drone which pretend to be a song. It is inferiors to other more melodic songs which uses the same templit, for instance "O Julie" by Shakin Stephen.

(Hm?! Did Geir reintroduce himself with the melodic post above? ;)

Hi, Joseph!
