I didn't even know he was doing this - I have an abiding affection-from-afar with Franklin cuz he went to my high school, put Upland on the map musically with Shrimper and those great Nothing Painted Blue records... anybody read this? is it on a par with the *cough* Sign O the Times book?

Shakey, have you read this thing by Franklin Bruno?

When I was working on the high school newspaper I got a lot of entertainment going through back issues and finding record reviews of Aretha Frankling and Husker Du written by Franklin.

I love that Jeff Gomez review to bits & pieces. Um, who's Armed Forces by?

Burt Bacharach.

Haha. Having never encountered Our Noise I naively and absent-mindedly read that review as pure fiction. Ouch!

I think it's probably my favorite book of the series. Really wonderful and illuminating--he did a LOT of research for it.

i love franklin bruno, and i'm excited to read this.

selfish caveat: i'm not *that* into this e.c. album, and i sort of wish bruno had chosen to tackle, say, a dylan lp. but maybe next time.
