You know those 3CD Trojan box sets which cost about £10? Trojan Dub Box, Trojan Dancehall Box etc Which ones does anyone particularly recommend? I know you can't go wrong with 3CDs of *any* Trojan stuff for a tenner, but are there any stand-out sets?

I've also heard that they're all limited edition.Anyone know if this is true, and HOW limited? Do I need to panic and buy the lot?

Thanks for your help.

i recommend the dub #2 set (slate blue) although a coworker strongly recommends dub #1 (black).

#2 has "Casanova Dub" by The Observer All-Stars which at any price is quite cheap.

The ska box is very good, although certain real ale reggae people will tell you that some tracks are in fact rocksteady and not ska... It also has a version of the third man theme on it, which makes worth a tenner of anyones money.

I seem to remember the Producers one is a good one, but I already had too much of it to but it. If, as I think, it has big chunks of the Clancy Eccles and Joe Gibbs comps Trojan put out in the late '80s then it's a winner all the way.

The dub ones are better than I expected, given that Trojan was on the wane when dub was strongest. The DJs one is very good, too. I found the Rocksteady one a bit much...

I know very little about Reggae (in fact I don't like much at all) but I like a bit of ska and stuff like that and the Trojan Sampler out at the moment for only £3.99 is an absolute corker of an album.

They're all good BUT you can get the first ten boxes (that's THIRTY cds!!) in one big big box. Go to amazon.co.uk and search under popular music for "Trojan". Have them sort the list from high price to low and it's the first item. It costs £102.pp I think. After VAT is subtracted and shipping added, it's about $130, or just a little more than $4 per CD, and each CD has something like 17 songs on it, so about a quarter per track, which is a nice price.
