Tommy Hunt was born June 18, 1933 in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. In 1952 and 1953 he was a member of the Chicago-based Five Echoes along with Johnnie Taylor. He was a member of the Flamingos from 1956 to 1961 during which time he sang lead on "Your Other Love", "Besame Mucho", "Music Maestro Please", "As Time Goes By" and "Everybody's Got A Home But Me", among others. His biggest solo hit was "Human" in 1961 on Scepter Records. He also recorded "I Am A Witness" in 1963 and "I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself", which later became a hit for Dusty Springfield. His last hit was "The Biggest Man" on Dynamo in 1967. He moved to England ca. 1970 and recorded for Polydor in 1972 and Pye in 1974. In the late 70s he was a star on the northern soul circuit, and had a hit with "Crackin' Up" on the Spark label. He recorded two albums while in England, Live At The Wigan Casino (1975) and A Sign Of The Times (1976). In 2001, he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with the Flamingos. Today he still lives in London and continues to perform. On rare occasion, he visits the US and performs with a Flamingos group that has no originals.
