If I second this you're going to turn round and say you were being sarcastic, aren't you?

No, I was serious. Sludgey, riffy stuff is great for a roll. I seem to remember hearing it was big in Seattle amongst all the (then) hip grunge bands, and I can understand why.

Jamey Lewis (Jameys Burning), Wednesday, 27 June 2001 03:05 (twenty-four years ago)

four years pass...
they are scheduled to play vancouver tues sept.27/05 . i have heard "white2" and i am a little curious as to how this plays live.

the thrones and boris are also with them and as it is boris i am really interested in i will most likely go.

Live is better. There might be a vocalist, but there are unlikely to be long boring poems by Julian fucking Cope. Be prepared to feel dust gently sifting down from the ceiling, vibrated loose by the amps. Don't stand next to the barrel where everyone throws their empty beer bottles, either, for the same reason - the rattling glassware will be damn near as loud as the band.

pdf (Phil Freeman), Saturday, 16 July 2005 19:25 (twenty years ago)

Find the nearest wall and rest your head against it. Their vibrations will set your whole head vibrating and take you over.

jellybean (jellybean), Saturday, 16 July 2005 23:12 (twenty years ago)

go for a shit before hand. just in case. and also if you can spend some time doing so walk around the room for a few minutes to find the most resonant spot. your enjoyment will go something like this: first 7 minutes (amazing) 12 more minutes (you'll find it dull as fuck) the rest (transcendental)

simon 803 (simon 803), Sunday, 17 July 2005 11:32 (twenty years ago)

They'd better be playing T.O. too.

I haven't seen any of the three bands, but theirs is the type of music that you know sounds better live. Basically, you're paying to hear it played louder than you ever could at home.

30 Bangin' Tunes That You've Already Got ... IN A DIFFERENT ORDER! (Barry Brune, Sunday, 17 July 2005 12:37 (twenty years ago)

it's amazing, totally mindblowing although so fuckin over the top that to some it may seem ridiculous.

rizzx (rizzx), Sunday, 17 July 2005 12:44 (twenty years ago)

they play incredibly loud very slow guitar riffs over subterranaean bass sounds. While wearing hooded robes. As spectacle they are unbeatable.

If you ever want to listen to music again, do not go to the gig without earplugs.

DV (dirtyvicar), Sunday, 17 July 2005 13:34 (twenty years ago)

I can only second that advice. I could only take them undiluted for bursts of about a minute before needing to cram the earplugs back in.

haitch (haitch), Sunday, 17 July 2005 14:43 (twenty years ago)

If you want to buy vinyl make sure its from the record label as the prices on ebay are ridiculous.

Last Of The Famous International Pfunkboys (Kerr), Sunday, 17 July 2005 14:44 (twenty years ago)

oh and they have a new album on the way, black 1, due mid-october.

haitch (haitch), Sunday, 17 July 2005 14:57 (twenty years ago)

drone/a/saur (william), Sunday, 17 July 2005 21:28 (twenty years ago)

I agree with the 'good to see live' sentiments. If you're going to buy an album, you might as well get Earth 2.

Anyone know MOONND)))?

Sasha (sgh), Monday, 18 July 2005 00:34 (twenty years ago)

You should be treated to something akin to the soundtrack music for a film of two glaciers fucking. During a tsunami. Wearing robes. Just go. :)

John Bullabaugh (John Bullabaugh), Monday, 18 July 2005 00:47 (twenty years ago)
