Ozzfest f'in SUCKED

Saw it in Hartford tdoay. Just thought I'd heed warning to anyone who might even think of going. Though I can imagine this group isn't the Ozzfest type... To be fair, Maiden was great and Sabbath played a really tight show, even with Ozzy's inconsistent vocals. I simply went to see Sabbath, one of my all time favorite bands, but my god, I thought I was going to shoot myself after hearing 60 mins of Mudvayne.

I like Sabbath, too, but you should've brang your walkman.

Isn't Maiden enough?!

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 18 July 2005 15:44 (twenty years ago)

I'm going next week (the 27th, in NJ). There's 11 bands I either want to see or wouldn't mind seeing: Sabbath, Maiden, Mudvayne (haven't heard the new album, but liked the last one a lot), Shadows Fall, In Flames, Rob Zombie, Mastodon, The Haunted, Arch Enemy, The Black Dahlia Murder and Trivium (who I'll probably miss because they're on too early in the day).

I'll have my iPod with me just in case things get boring, but I anticipate a quality day of metal.

I'm under the impression its all about the second stage.

miccio (miccio), Monday, 18 July 2005 16:02 (twenty years ago)

How was Jada Pinkett Smith's band? lol

The Brainwasher (Twilight), Monday, 18 July 2005 16:03 (twenty years ago)

Nah, for me it's equally balanced between second-stage and main-stage acts. The second stage is way too clogged with metalcore also-rans to really sweep the day, especially when Maiden's promising to play only songs from their first four albums.

pdf (Phil Freeman), Monday, 18 July 2005 16:04 (twenty years ago)

that's kind of a sad promise for a band to have to make. not that they had to...

shookout (shookout), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 00:42 (twenty years ago)

Isn't Mastodon also playing the second stage? I was going to go to the show in Indianapolis, but I cannot get off work that week.

Earl Nash (earlnash), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 00:54 (twenty years ago)

Last year I could have sworn the music started at 9am. That would be one long, long day.

Josh in Chicago (Josh in Chicago), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 02:27 (twenty years ago)

I only saw Sabbath and Maiden. I figured they were worth the price of admission, and I didn't care to see anyone else really. Unless there was some blackmetal that I wasn't aware of, but besides that I'm happy with what I saw.

billstevejim (billstevejim), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 02:55 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, Maiden did first 4 albums only, which was great. And Sabbath did a lot of medley stuff... Sleeping Villiage played live rules!

Bryan Moore (Bryan Moore), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 03:39 (twenty years ago)
