Yes, I dont think that's a good thing.. are we talking like extremely hot here, or just a little heated under the collar?

four years pass...
My cd player is making discs hotter these days than it used to...
is this at all damaging to them??

Quite possibly. I don't recall any of my CD players ever making my discs "hot" after playing them.

My brother has one of those Feeding CD players in his car. Before it worked great, then it started getting hot, then the player just broke.

Get a new one. I don't think it does something to the CD but it will damage the player itself.

it seems like a lot of car cd players make cds VERY hot. i always wondered the samething-does it hurt them? cannot be good, esp. for CD-R's as couldn't the backing come off?

My old car had one of those feed-in cd players, and it used to make the discs really hot. It never did any damage to any of my cds. It's probably not any worse than leaving cds in a car on a hot day. Direct sunlight's probably worse than just heat from the player, actually (note: this has not been scientifically tested by me)

No, it's a normal tray cd player. If it's just damaging the cd player I don't mind (even the guy at the shop I bought it from told me it was configured to break down in about three years, and that was six years ago.)
