Vomitron is quite cool for a myspace band, don't you think?

That's a pretty obvious plug, but I forgive you. You win a prize: my honest opinion.

1) Yeah, it's better than the average myspace band.

2) Nintendo covers have been done better by The Advantage (who do exclusively that), including bits from Contra.

3) Your rhythm section seems to have occasional timing problems.

4) The drums sound like ass, but it might be a combination of the mp3 file and the shitty headphones I'm using.

5) I'm not a huge fan of instrumental metal, and you guys don't kick quite as hard as The Fucking Champs or Oxes. Still, there's something there. You guys should really keep at it -- I can see a lot of people are checking you out, and I'd bet you're an entertaining live band.

Pretty obvious plug for a band I'm not in? I actually came across it on an FTP site and thought it was a collab between Mike Patton and Buckethead that someone was talking about. I then Googled "Vomitron" after listening to a few of the mp3's (there were lots of mp3's) and realizing there was no jibbering Patton vocals and the guitar didn't really sound like Buckethead. I found this myspace page. True story.

BTW, the Deli Creeps demo is fucking amazing! I can't believe it took me so long to find it. I'm dying laughing and I think it could really drive me crazy.

So that would explain why you're logged out?

Hurting (Hurting), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 02:32 (twenty years ago)

No, that explanation would be that I was never logged in. Explain to me why I would log in.

Because usually regular posters on boards like this like to have a "handle" so that people know who they are and can identify their posts. Whereas someone who just comes around to buzz their band might not have a handle or might not want to use it.

Hurting (Hurting), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 02:36 (twenty years ago)

In fact, I almost never see posts by non-logged-in people aside from trolls or people asking very sensitive questions that they want to leave anonymous.

Hurting (Hurting), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 02:37 (twenty years ago)

If you're not in the band, you could be their friend, or manager, or publicist. Using a board on which you are not a regular poster as a mere tool to buzz your band is kind of against the unspoken ethics of these things, and most people tend to ignore such posts (whereas I just kind of like hearing new bands and critiquing them, whatever the reason). But if you were logged in, then people could say "Oh hey, it's JimmyJazz! He has similar taste in music to mine! Maybe I'll check out this band he's getting so frothy about!"

NO, I'm... uh the last name I can remember is "Stoner Guy." Remember me? No? That's okay, my feelings aren't HURTING. Haw, haw. Seriously, Sherlock, go play detective on your own time. I got a thread here that sucks and is falling fast. Just kidding. Here's the FTP site: ftp.bunglefever.com ... lots BOredoms for you, uh, guys.

I never log in. And none of your explanations apply to me, nor convince me why I would ever want to.

Definitely check out the hi-res mp3s on bunglefever. I am loving this. Much better sound than the 3 on Myspace.

ftp://ftp.bunglefever.com/incoming/Vomitron/

It's like Mr. Bungle crossed with Buckethead without the excess changes of Bungle or the insane soloing of Buckethead. Yet, oddly it does sound like them. Lots of eerie synth, too.

Wow, I'm really impressed!!!!!!, Friday, 22 July 2005 00:47 (twenty years ago)

Aha! Found out something that explains why this is so good.

Vomitron is one person, and one person only - Pete Rutcho.

He's also the lead guitarist in both Blistered Earth and Crotalus, two Massachusetts-local bands.

So it's not some teenage kids.
