Seeing as how (according to the TV movie, yeah right I know, anyway back to the sentence) Jan was trying to avoid the draft when he crashed...

Classic as hosts of the T.A.M.I. Show.

As the Monkees were to the Beatles, Jan & Dean were to the Beach Boys: Funnier, less burdened by "musical genius" reputations, better suited to extramusical media, more reliant on studio musicians. Also a possible vocal influence on Thurston Moore.

Search: The Little Old Lady From Pasadena LP.

Kinda expected from a duo, yeah?

I had some cheapo cassette compilation thing of theirs when I was a young 'un and it had these weird almost interlude-type things on it that I think were recorded at one of their concerts (I think one of the things they did was some weird version of the Beatles' Michelle). I listened to that quite a bit. I also saw them perform at the Symphony Hall in Phoenix many moons ago. Oh yeah...one of my favourite songs from that tape was The Anaheim, Azusa and Cucamonga Sewing Circle, Book Review and Timing Association, or something like that.

The Situationist fake "live" stuff on side four of their "Anthology" LP.

Sounds interesting, but ... $50 for one disc? Seriously?

tylerw, Tuesday, 9 February 2010 21:06 (sixteen years ago)

wow, that is a steep price

I have Dean's "Save for a Rainy Day", which is pretty good. I had no idea Jan was in any kind of shape for singing and recording.
