Ned: Have you seen them recently then? (I''m going next month.) Are they performing a mostly-acoustic based set now? (The last time I saw them there were two "sets," one for the Beach Boys/Kevin Ayers sound and one for the Gene Clark/Brit folk one, but that was a couple of years ago.)

Saw 'em two years back, I think -- they were good, but the energy was low-key instead of mushroom-stoner craziness, much like the recent albums. So don't go expecting Tatay, is all I'm saying.

I saw the French Kicks night before last and they impressed the shit out of me... however, the headliner with all the industry buzz (longview? Longwave?) were a boring excercise in early 90's droning guitar tedium.

always puzzles me about reviews of gorky's when people lovingly recall the early raucous days of 'tatay' but 'tatay' was pretty maudlin and somber, now if they are talking about a desire for the days of the dreadful 'patio' then they have no idea. a few rollicking singles seem to have worked to misinform everyone.
