The Pop Group 'Y' - I finally cracked and shelled out. I'm sure it'll probably get a proper release now, but at least I have a nice original LP in excellent condition.

Robin Goad (rgoad), Friday, 22 July 2005 06:41 (twenty years ago)

ACR:MCR. why the buggering fuck has such an amazing album never had a proper reissue?

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Friday, 22 July 2005 06:48 (twenty years ago)

Loads!!

In the last couple of weeks I got these:

rentals - I got a crush on you 7"
angry red planet - gawker's paradise 7"
disrupters - alive in the electric chair 12"
conflict (US) - last hour LP

highly unlikely I'd find any of these in a London record store.

Colonel Poo (Colonel Poo), Friday, 22 July 2005 09:09 (twenty years ago)

It's not so much finding them, it's not paying collector shop money for them.

Some you win, and someyou arent going to...

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 22 July 2005 09:13 (twenty years ago)

Yeah Ebay prices are a little strange compared with shops. Some things go for so much less than they do in shops, others go for way more. Example - I got the 3rd Bullshit Detector comp on Crass records in Reckless on Berwick St for £15. That goes for over £20 every time it comes up on Ebay. Also - Boss Hog - Cold Hands LP - £10 in Reckless, you'll be lucky to get it for that on Ebay.

seconds of pleasure just came back in print last year - before then, it was pretty hard to find on CD, but easy to find on LP.

Please Panic: Vulgar Boatmen

kornrulez6969 (TCBeing), Friday, 22 July 2005 14:04 (twenty years ago)

ask the ages waltzed into the record store where i worked in this dude's huge sell-back stack. i grabbed it as soon as the store bought it, and pled with my boss to sell it to me. i was in charge of the import/rare cd research, so i felt like it was the right thing to do to tell him that it went for money. i did, and he was like "ok. ten bucks." SOLD!

peter smith (plsmith), Friday, 22 July 2005 14:05 (twenty years ago)

"Stripped To The Bare Bones" a live CD by Steve Harley. Never would have found it stateside, and I got it for ridiculously cheap on ebay.

Is the Ask The Ages CD worth something on ebay?

walter kranz (walterkranz), Friday, 22 July 2005 14:45 (twenty years ago)

The Soundtrack to "Z" (vinyl)
Dusty Springfield-A Brand New Me (cd)

plus alotta general used stuff at bargain prices.

Marxism Goes Better With Coke (Charles McCain), Friday, 22 July 2005 15:52 (twenty years ago)

too many! stuff like the JP CD editions of EAWS - Feral Pop Frenzy and Earwig - Past, all of Taku Sugimoto's early Slub and Creativeman solo CDs, the first Skygreen Leopards cdr, Erkin Koray's first CD, Charalambides - Branches LP. i think every seemingly unfindable item on my worldpsych, postpunk, and techno CD wishlists has come up for auction (and within my price range) eventually. takes just a smidge of the "thrill of the hunt" out of the game, but i'm not complaining.

Stump CD seconded. Ask the Ages thirded or fourthed.

echoinggrove (echoinggrove), Friday, 22 July 2005 17:17 (twenty years ago)

I got Sonny Sharrock - Ask The Ages off gemm.com for $9 + $6 shipping to the UK.
Ebay was always more expensive when it came up.(When I looked anyway)

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Friday, 22 July 2005 22:19 (twenty years ago)

Hey Horrid Monsta, I see that Squeeze album ALL THE HELL OVER THE PLACE for, like, $1. It is on beautiful red vinyl, plus it was produced by John Cale, so why do people not buy it? WHAT IS PEOPLE'S PROBLEM?

PeterAbe1ard (PeterAbe1ard), Friday, 22 July 2005 22:23 (twenty years ago)

How much did that Live Skull - Dusted cost you? I want that album. I only have Positraction at the moment.

I got Cath Carroll for £2.99 from HMV many years ago, is it hard to get now?

Colonel Poo (Colonel Poo), Friday, 22 July 2005 22:27 (twenty years ago)

Scream - Live at Van Hall

Aja (aja), Friday, 22 July 2005 22:32 (twenty years ago)

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Friday, 22 July 2005 22:41 (twenty years ago)

I love the song Dusted Pt 2.

I got the Soul Jazz ESG CD today for £4 something. Woo!

Colonel Poo (Colonel Poo), Friday, 22 July 2005 22:43 (twenty years ago)

is Perfect Teeth really hard to find?

kyle (akmonday), Friday, 22 July 2005 22:46 (twenty years ago)

Oh duh yeah Perfect Teeth is what I was talking about, it has Cath Carroll on the cover so I got confused! I don't have the Cath Carroll single.

I suppose Unrest in general is quite hard to find in the UK but if you do find them it'll be cheap.

Colonel Poo (Colonel Poo), Friday, 22 July 2005 22:47 (twenty years ago)

I can find scans of them, but the 7" singles for "It's You (Mein Schmerze) by the Meteors (the Dutch band, not the Brit psychobilly band) and the original 7" single of "Baby Turns Blue" by the Virgin Prunes.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 23 July 2005 00:46 (twenty years ago)

Oh, and the soundtrack to Picnic at Hanging Rock on vinyl (it does not exist on CD).
