What are the best albums whose themes deal with love and/or relationships?

Grand Epic (Grand Epic), Saturday, 23 July 2005 22:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Joni Mitchell - Blue
Bjork - Vespertine
Kirsty MacColl - Titanic Days
Kate Bush - The Red Shoes
(Kinda, I think the major failing with this record is that she tried to make it into something else than just a break-up album, but didn't pull it off. It's heartbreaking, but with high-points too, even if you know she's singing them in past tense).

Gary Wilson - You Think You Really Know Me

Don't most of the best albums deal with love and relationships? Meet the Beatles!

Well, I'd say Carole King's Tapestry ought to be on the list, discounting Smackwater Jack.

Isn't this question really unnecessary considering well, just how prevalent a theme love is? Maybe I'm just more emo than I want to admit, but I think pretty much every album in my collection has at least one song about love or relationships. Isn't this question just another way of asking "what's your favorite albums (other than death metal)?"

Blur: 13

There's some people who say that this album is about Damon Albarn's love for his Ex-Girlfriend, Justine Frischmann (from Elastica), but there's some who don't agree.

as a sub-genre of love/relationships, Bizzaro by the Wedding Present is peerless as far as albums about infidelity and fucking relationships up go. track by track, and all done with a rare wit and dry humour:

1. Gedge doesn't trust his unfaithful gf anymore
2. Gedge leaves his gf for someone else
3. Gedge's gf cheats on him then repents, but he has none of it
4. Gedge's gf leaves him for another bloke
5. Jackie Kennedy marries Aristotle Onassis following the assassination of JFK
6. Gedge's big mouth gets him into hot water
7. Gedge's gf cheats on him again, lamely attempts to cover it up
8. Gedge stalks someone else's gf
9. Gedge pleads with someone else's gf for a quickie
10. Gedge gets dumped
