I am being earwormed by U2's "The Unforgettable Fire." What's earworming you right now?

"Earworm, a literal translation of the German Ohrwurm, is a term for a song stuck in one's head, particularly an annoying one." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earworm)

I attribute my current earworm to the gin, although I also have a weakness for Bono's early U2 vocals. (I've always intended to make a mix tape, to be entitled I Can't Believe It's Not Emo.) But enough about me; what song can't you get out of your head right now? And do you regard this as a Bad Thing, or a good one?

I went to bed last night and woke up this morning with Evan Dando's "Divan" stuck in my head. Not a bad thing. Just annoying. Getting lyrics stuck in my head sucks the most 'cause I don't actually sing the lyrics in my head, I just recite them; so I had a tuneless "Crash out on my divan, you can crash out on my divan" being repeated by that voice (not Dando's) in my head.

I was watching The Backyardigans on Nick Jr. the other day and the little mouse-guy/girl was pretending to be a cowboy. He/She was singing this song that went "Hippy Ya Ya Hippidy, Ye Haw Yippidy" or something like that.

I hate when you have a song that you can't remember the lyric to tuck in your head.

when i'm not thinking about anything, i keep getting two lines from jay-z's "what more can i say" (a track i don't even particularly like) stuck in my head - they're actually parts of two separate rhymes, but for some reason my head feels compelled to combine them into
"you already know what i'm about
flying birds down south"/
"it's hard to yell
when the bar-rels in ya mouth". i mumble this to myself all fucking day. it's been like this for months.

"The Unforgettable Fire" is one of the few U2 songs (and the only early one) I consider too beautiful to resist. Great production, especially the synth solo, an unexpected moment of schlock greatness right out of the Trever Horn book.

"Cecilia" by Simon and Garfunkel. Evil coworker is to blame.

Making love in the afternoon with cecilia
Up in my bedroom (making love)
I got up to wash my face
When I come back to bed
Someone’s taken my place

three years pass...

I wish I'd known when I had it good. Now I'm being earwormed by Jr. Walker and the All-Stars "What Does It Take (To Win Your Love)." Motown at its most maudlin and unrequited love, ya me.
