mp3 cdr cataloguing - is there a program which will help me?

so, i have a few hundred cds full of mp3s, and while i've written on them to tell me what's there i haven't got any kind of catalogue, so it takes ages to find anything in particular. are there any programs which would help me catalogue them? what i'm imagining is something that would let me put each disc into the computer in turn, and would keep a record of what's on each one, and assign them a number so i could keep them in order, or something like that.

I had a program called Powerdesk which allows you to copy and paste the contents of any directory (inc. CD but also directories on your hard drive) as text which you can then print out. Very good. Not sure where you'd find it online though.

itunes does this. if you made them on itunes it will recognise them. I'm not sure how easy it is to label them all if you made them using a different programme.

You could also use Winamp (not sure about other media player apps) to generate a html page listing the contents of each disc, just by dragging the contents of the disc into the playlist window and then pressing ctrl+alt+g

CDFinder does exactly what you need on a Mac. You can set it to automatically read and catalog disc after disc as you feed them into your drive - CDRs or DVDRs. It stores them by file name, etc. and by MP3 tag.

Assuming you're on a Mac, go for DiskTracker (http://www.disktracker.com/). It's the standard for catalogueing (is that a word) disks and drives…

The last time I tried DiskTracker it did not read or catalog MP3 tags and bitrates. Has it added this feature?

BTW, one less than ideal function of CDFinder is that it only uses freedb.org, not the superior CDDB/Gracenote, to look up song info when it scans an audio CD.
