I went to the mall one time and my brother asked me (while we were parking) "Hey, what album would you like to find really cheap?", so I said "Probably The Olivia Tremor Control's 'Dusk at Cubist Castle.'"

So I went to Borders and they had a $3.99 bin. So I dug deep and I found that album. Weird Coincedence.

What are albums you wear searching for and found it reall cheap, but at chain store?

Vanity 6 cassette album for only 50 cents at Goodwill. Compare with $89.99 from Amazon!! (a cd/lp copy would be nicer to have, of course ...)

The original Deutsche Grammophon CDs of Stockhausen's "Donnerstag aus Licht" and "Samstag aus Licht" at a rather indie-centric store, used, for $30 each (both are 4-cd sets)!

David Tudor's recording of Stockhausen's Klavierstuecke in the clearance bin at Future Shop (of all places - it's the Canadian equivalent of best buy) for $5!

I have had good luck with herr Stockhausen.

Replacements - The Shit Hits the Fans cassette for $3.99 at PooBah's. I'm surprised they didn't know it was collectable, they seemed pretty up on that stuff. Also found that pre-Wishing Chair 10000 Maniacs LP or EP at the record swap meet for a couple bucks. I was under the impression it was valuable too. (It's on Christian Burial records, maybe a re-issue?)

Fucked Up Inside by Spiritualized - $2 in a cutout bin

Steve Gertz (sgertz), Tuesday, 26 July 2005 05:38 (twenty years ago)

To elaborate: 1994; CD; Wherehouse Records; Ann Arbor, MI - I think, though, that it was already out of print and fetching a pretty penny at most shops.

Also found three or four Masked Maruaders LPs in a K-Mart cutout bin for 1 oe 2 dollars, but only bought one. I don't know if it has any value, other than to play once and smirk.

I wanted to get "Somebody" by Spearmint, their first single that was only made as a promo due to some Beatles samples. Found it on a jap website for £50, decided against. Found it in the local record promo shop singles box for £2. Loverly. And one of their best songs, funnily enough.
