I mean COME ON! I don't mean to be snotty (yes I do), but you want to go to an event to have BLOGGING explained to you? By Ultragrrrl?
And not HOW to blog, but HOW TO GET BLOGGED?
This is a joke, right?

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 26 July 2005 20:40 (twenty years ago)

how does this conflict with the "more in the monitor" going away party that's also tonight?

In the wake of two highly popular sessions,

You mean that, uh, this has happened before?

PB, Wednesday, 27 July 2005 02:07 (twenty years ago)

Eliot Aronow's a cool dude.

Yes these ads were posted on nyhappenings.

yes they're totally silly.

I would think Step 1 would be "Get the right haircut".

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Wednesday, 27 July 2005 02:24 (twenty years ago)

Wait, how does everyone know Eliot Aronow (sp?) cause if it's the same guy (which I bet it is) I went to school with him.

Hurting (Hurting), Wednesday, 27 July 2005 02:27 (twenty years ago)

step 2. use your "head" and put the "blo" in blog

ghetty green (eman), Wednesday, 27 July 2005 02:28 (twenty years ago)

A little googling suggests that it probably is the same dude. I did not know he works/worked for Fader. Whaddya know? I can both understand why someone would like him and why someone would have a vendetta against him.

Hurting (Hurting), Wednesday, 27 July 2005 02:30 (twenty years ago)

I can feel them coming -- indie heirs tonight.

It's not often that one post will stop me cold. I just can't figure out if it was in a good way or not.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Wednesday, 27 July 2005 02:37 (twenty years ago)

I can't figure it out either.

Hurting (Hurting), Wednesday, 27 July 2005 02:43 (twenty years ago)

Bloggers indie night, exchanging files
Wond'ring in the night
What were the chances we'd be sharing leaks
Before the night was reviewed.

ghetty green (eman), Wednesday, 27 July 2005 02:49 (twenty years ago)

"English 101 with Prof. Mark E. Smith"

this reminds me of one of those "Great Pop Things" comics. something about spud-u-like and a tisket a tasket

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Wednesday, 27 July 2005 03:00 (twenty years ago)

Joke:

Q: How does Phil Colins know when Ian McKaye's kids are coming over to hang out with his son?

A: He can feel them coming, indie heirs, tonight.

Hurting (Hurting), Wednesday, 27 July 2005 03:07 (twenty years ago)

Eliot used to work for Fader before the gigantic iPod/New York Times debacle...

Jay Watts III (jaywatts), Wednesday, 27 July 2005 16:06 (twenty years ago)

Dude, I just got this Indie Night School thing in my band's myspace.com box.

They charge for this? These guys are fucking geniuses, honestly. They found a way to make money from the simple fact of being in a band, and on top of that they get all kinds of free publicity for their music -- I mean I'd never heard of the fucking Black Spoons before this.

Honestly, if it was free, I might go, but you have to be a retard to pay to learn how to get reviewed.

Hurting (Hurting), Sunday, 31 July 2005 04:54 (twenty years ago)

One of my friends in one panel and I think it's hilarious. How to get fucking blogged? Please. What are they going to say besides "kiss my ass and give me free tickets to your show?"

Candicissima (candicissima), Sunday, 31 July 2005 16:48 (twenty years ago)

Well, it's funny, but I wrote a blurb about this on my blog and it invited a response from Indie Night School organizer/moderator T0m S3an. There's much more to these events in terms of planning and limiting the parameters of discussion than meets the eye. This was painfully apparent at the Philly version.

blackmail.is.my.life (blackmail.is.my.life), Sunday, 31 July 2005 17:48 (twenty years ago)

xpost to Hurting - in Philly it was pay to find out how to get your band booked! it was awful - so you mean there's no single standard to getting my band booked at X venue? Next you'll be telling me that taste is subjective! And that commerce matters!

blackmail.is.my.life (blackmail.is.my.life), Sunday, 31 July 2005 17:49 (twenty years ago)

I also have been invited and am considering going, if only to be fair. Probably shouldn't mock until I know what they're about.
But yes, there is some comedic possibility.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Sunday, 31 July 2005 18:02 (twenty years ago)

Y'all big city folks are a bunch of chuckles
