It's unusual, in keeping with dip tradition, but rather accessible. Is this the big one for santana?
what do you think?

burna (burna), Wednesday, 27 July 2005 15:47 (twenty years ago)

Santana is, far and away, the worst rapper in dipset - at least circa diplomatic immunity. "Mic Check" was good to the extent that I think someone must have been writing his shit for him, and he clearly wishes he'd thought of making a Lil Wayne style transformation before Lil Wayne did (although Lil Wayne was never as straight up bad as Juelz. I haven't heard this yet. And can't, because I'm at work.

deej.., Wednesday, 27 July 2005 16:02 (twenty years ago)

Juelz is worse than Jim Jones? Worse than Sheist Bub and Un Kasa?? His lyrics have improved massively in the last 6 months, his delivery alone gets him over and pretty much every beat he's on is some wacky next level shit. Granted, "There It Go" is a lot more straightforward, but it's still v.nice. I just hope he made the right call sticking w/Rocafella... I still don't know if they'll push him like he deserves to be pushed.

Chris Lemon-Red, Wednesday, 27 July 2005 17:25 (twenty years ago)

i was gonna start a thread on this a few days ago (when i saw it on chris's site). i adore this track.

and to say that Jim is bad? are you mad. on his album he pulls so many different styles. even does a fast triplet southern feel.

Ridin' through the Galaxy, All I wanna do is drink a Pepsi (jaxon), Wednesday, 27 July 2005 18:05 (twenty years ago)

deej, it's got a minimal Grindin' type drum beat with a silly whistle on top.

i don't understand all the comments on lemon red w/people saying it's not a typical diplomat beat. that it's a banger? i dunno, sounds like something they'd do to me?

Ridin' through the Galaxy, All I wanna do is drink a Pepsi (jaxon), Wednesday, 27 July 2005 18:06 (twenty years ago)

Santana is, far and away, the worst rapper in dipset

have you heard Diplomatic Immunity 2?!

Ridin' through the Galaxy, All I wanna do is drink a Pepsi (jaxon), Wednesday, 27 July 2005 18:07 (twenty years ago)

I said "circa diplomatic immunity," and yeah he's definitely worse than Jim Jones. At least that dude as some character.

deej.., Wednesday, 27 July 2005 18:13 (twenty years ago)

The man has a point.

Chris Lemon-Red, Thursday, 11 August 2005 05:10 (twenty years ago)

Vianette, take grammer lessons then let go of the SHIFT button and take off CAPS and then maybe talk..The opinion they all have IS theres you dont have to bring the race card in this, and Chris he doesn't have a point you are as ignorant as him. OPINIONS are THERES dont be a badass and learn how to type.

T Dubs, Thursday, 11 August 2005 15:34 (twenty years ago)

Laugh out loud. I'm white and I happen to enjoy rap. I love rap. And you, you need to learn how to spell, get a better vocabulary, and learn some grammar. Do not speak like an ignorant black person, you don't know white people and there's no reason to even start shit like that. Rap is amazing. Juelz is a genius. Shady/Aftermath/Interscope/G-Unit will own the charts for life. Shady/Aftermath is the shit!

just another kid, Thursday, 11 August 2005 19:56 (twenty years ago)

"OPINIONS are THERES dont be a badass and learn how to type."

"Do not speak like an ignorant black person, you don't know white people"

Wow. That's just... wow.

Chris Lemon-Red, Thursday, 11 August 2005 22:43 (twenty years ago)

Chris keep laughing, you are as much of a fool as vianette.

Laugh at yourself a bit more kiddo.

Ignorance is a bliss.

T Dubs, Friday, 12 August 2005 02:11 (twenty years ago)

Yawn. Dip Set = music for rich white hipsters to try to get ironic with these days.

This thread is trying to go in the right direction, till rejects and ignorant morons like Vianette and Chris start posting.

Get the hell off.

T Dubs, Monday, 15 August 2005 16:30 (twenty years ago)

dipset = music for rich white hipsters??? no, and you need to shut up

listen, i'm from washington heights, born & raised. when hell rell says "i done copped from every damn haze spot on audobon" i'm like 'so did i, what?'

when they talk about stuff up here in the heights and in harlem it's real shit.. all the lil pubescent mother fuckers on my block yell byrd gang and throw eagles up, it's like that. i dont know where you people are from but have you seen 40 kids rushing a cop car to pull their friend who was arrested out??? welcome to purple city... kids get crazy up here and the music up here is dipset, well, at least dipset will get played a lot here and these are not white people they are dominicans.

the whistle song? nothing special. catchy, good for the club, not for the streets.... "santana's town part 2" is for the streets, "girls, cash, cars" is for the streets, "what is this" is for the streets, "t.v. real" is for the steets... they are doing there thing and when jim's album drops they are going to be doing better then they ever have been, even if it means still not getting the total attention of america.

but to answer the first poster's question: no, i don't think this song is juelz's "big one"... that will have to wait for the santana/jeezy album or something with more hype surrounding it... really what santana must do is generate a public persona that has more sides to it than his current one. the whole 'back like cooked crack' persona needs to culminate with 'fiend out' whenever that drops because personally i find it hard to believe that Juelz Santana a.k.a. LeRon James is out there selling crack in harlem.... i haven't seen him selling crack on the streets, and i doubt any one else has either. he's defintaley not on 140th & lenox, or at least i don't see him there.

two months pass...
Suddenly I hear this song blasting out of every car. I just realized it reminds me of nothing more than that Young Gunz party anthem.

Hurting (Hurting), Sunday, 6 November 2005 00:44 (twenty years ago)

It's still great. I catch myself doing the whistle with ipod in and freaking out old ladies in th' east village. So it's great.
