HELLO RANDOM GOOGLERS! I don't think anyone on this board actually has any Oink invites, we just happen to be #1 on Google for it. Why not take this opportunity to ask yourself if you really need an Oink invite? Do you really listen to all that music you download? Do you actually HAVE to have that Wrens bootleg? Perhaps the time you spend pallidly fretting over your d/l ratios would be better spent on a good book, a bracing walk or a stiff drink? Just saying like. - Yrs, Moderators. [Delete this if necessary, but I couldn't find any threads with a similar specific purpose. I'm still relatively new to the board.]

Can we have a thread to ask for and give out Oink invites?

I haven't got the hang of uploading torrents to it yet (and I doubt I have anything anyone really wants that's not already up there), but I do let things I download seed, if that's what you mean.

I managed to find some old stuff that people would like e.g a rare nada surf cd. So i uploaded it and it gave me enough ratio to download some stuff i do want.

Also scan the net for stuff. I found a website hosting a rare Neutral Milk Hotel XFM session and put that up as a torrent.

Actually, more of the problem is just a fear of getting the process wrong and being shouted at. Azureus gives me far too many options for making a new torrent. I expect it's all laid out someone on the oink site, but I'm trying to get by with just seeding other people's stuff at the moment and just feeling vaguely guilty. I possibly don't have enough ports forwarded on my router too, or something.

I've got a couple of Oink invites left if anybody wants one. As hinted on here, you do need to know what you're doing when seeding, as they're pretty strict about the rules on there, but it's pretty easy when you know how. I'm also a member of Indietorrents, but that is THE most anal site I've ever been on, and it frankly isn't woth bothering with, as most of the decent stuff ends up on Oink anyway, with more seeders.

Anyhoo, if you want an invite, let me know.

You think? #IT is far more forgiving about some things than #OiNK is based on my experience. I mean, they're pretty strict about the RIAA-affiliated stuff not being upped, but they're totally reasonable about mistakes, etc. #OiNK mods love to ban users.

Fuck this is scary, trying to upload a torrent and getting it right. I *think* I've followed the instructions right. I created a torrent in Azureus, entering the right announce url in the box, then did all the upload a torrent stuff at oink, then 'open torrent (for seeding)' in Azureus, so that it appeared in the lower window. The Tracker status says 'Error: torrent not registered with this tracker (unauthorised)' though. Bugger.

It was the Rutles I uploaded. Can anyone grab it OK?

Ah - I think I see what I did wrong. I tried to seed the original torrent I created, rather than download and seed the modified one that oink makes with embedded passkey. Phew. Looks OK now.

You have to upload 10gb and have a ratio of above 1.0 to get invites so it's pretty tough!

That's right, so instead of just grabbing a tonne of music, get something knowledgeable too.
