What are your picks?
I get to do some djing in a couple of weeks but I've been too busy in the last couple of months to really pay attention to whats been coming out.

What do I absolutely have to check out?

nathan fake - coheed (michael mayer rmx)
the klf vs ricardo villalobos ft. miss kittin - what time is love?
international pony - our house (papa)

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 07:50 (twenty years ago)

also I don't know whether Booka Shade's 'Mandarine Girl'/'Point Break'/'Triple Identity' release is recent or not but holy fuck, all three are magnificent.

Poni Hoax - Budapest (Joakim Italo Dub)

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 07:54 (twenty years ago)

please tell me more about joakim. i wanted to start a thread on him but it seemed too marginal. i really like "come into my jkitchen" that big resonant clear cut bassline.

ambrose (ambrose), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 08:29 (twenty years ago)

Fuck yeah - 'Mandarine Girl' is superb dancefloor material.

the klf vs ricardo villalobos ft. miss kittin - what time is love?

this surely doesn't involve miss kittin, does it?

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 09:10 (twenty years ago)

I love those impossibly long prog-rock style Eulberg song titles - I've got a radio show were he introduces the tracks and translates the song titles into English with an ultra thick German accent.

Thez iz ze "Impozible Factory off Dreamsh zat Escaped From ze Mountainz" (Or something similar)

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 09:40 (twenty years ago)

play old stuff, that's what i do

(it's better anyway)

dj crapulent, Tuesday, 2 August 2005 10:53 (twenty years ago)

hey, a visitor from the discogs forums : D

fe zaffe (fezaffe), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 11:01 (twenty years ago)

Joakim co-runs Tigersushi records.

I'm not sure if that's Miss Kitten on the Villalobos track, but it sort of sounds like her.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 11:04 (twenty years ago)

haha. "don't you guys all hate hiphop nowadays"

ambrose there's a joakim thread somewhere, I really like most things of his I've heard.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 11:04 (twenty years ago)

Jaumëtic - Quien Marca Se Pone [Regular] - minimal/ebm fusion
Brightlight - Past Midnight [Karmarouge] - deepest schaffel ever
Jichael Mackosn - Used [Phictiv] - dub techno w / one million layers of hissing, whispering, fluttering

fe zaffe (fezaffe), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 11:18 (twenty years ago)

mackson not mackosn

fe zaffe (fezaffe), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 11:18 (twenty years ago)

actually the alter ego mix of robson ponte is a big dirty monster. more tech than house tho

and also the track 'me and my w' on ark's perlon album is quite healthy

of course many are spunking over the new isolee album also

dj crapulent, Tuesday, 2 August 2005 11:55 (twenty years ago)

and i don't get why people like the villalobos/klf thing. it's dull as dishwater

dj crapulent, Tuesday, 2 August 2005 12:01 (twenty years ago)

that chardonnet vs afrilounge tune is BIG. has it come out on 12"? ive only seen it on the pokerflat 4 comp.

yes i find the klf things, both the villalobos and the new one, a bit underwhelming.

thnx ronan ill check it out.

ambrose (ambrose), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 12:03 (twenty years ago)

Monthly playlists with pronounced micro/minimal slant here.

Andy_K (Andy_K), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 12:35 (twenty years ago)

more tech than house tho

Isn't that usually the case with minimal house? And, you could argue, the point.

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 13:38 (twenty years ago)

Thanks for the picks!

The shopping begins..

I'm definitely gonna play some old stuff. Might even try to fit in something off the soul jazz 'acid' compilation.
