Just conducted a webboard video poll where SHB came in #8 on the back of like 15 votes, yet I was the only one to vote for the INXS video. Doesn't seem right to me, I think it's the better of the two. Which card-flipping clip do you prefer?

Both videos are great, yes. But the INXS one is too slick and polished. I love the ramshackle nature of the Dylan vid, the occasional silly joke or exclamation on the placards, and Ginsgurg appearing in the background for no apparent reason.

SAX SOLO

my favorite part of the INXS video is when one of the dudes (I have no idea who any of them are, Hutchense aside) decides to toss the card behind his back. I think it was the dude with the black leather pants, sunglasses and the Kick t-shirt. That guy was cool. Dylan wasn't nearly so impromptu.

I can't help thinking we're all forgetting some reasonably famous video that also employs the gimmick.

yeah, me too. I think it might just be some commercial, though.

Was it Weird Al Yankovic, with the song going too fast for him as he tries to get through all of the cards?

it was, regardless of whether or not it actually was

There's a spelling mistake in the Mediate one. It still wins.

edward o (edwardo), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 17:09 (twenty years ago)

which one's that?

The Good Dr. Bill (The Good Dr. Bill), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 17:15 (twenty years ago)

"Serate".

I'll take INXS "Don't Change" over either.

the video? It's kinda boring.

"Never Tear Us Apart," though, that's a video.

"Need You Tonight"/"Mediate" wins. I like the close-up of the guitar strings when the main guitar riff is played for the first time.

I love that big hand chopping down in the beginning of the video, too.
