Being quite broke all the time, I tend to identify more easily with the songs about needy rappers telling how they struggle to get their hands on some dollars than with the bling bling hood rich ones... Too bad you can't hear much songs like this these times...

1. Eric B. & Rakim - Paid In Full
2. Black Moon - Munne Munne
3. Wu-Tang Clan - CREAM
4. Geto Boys - Ain't with Being Broke

A Tribe Called Quest, "Buggin' Out"

Believe that if you wanna but I tell you this much
Riding on the train with no dough, sucks.
Once again a case of your feet in my nike’s
If a crowd is in my realm I’m saying -- mic please
Hip-hop is living, can’t yank the plug
If you do the result, will end up kind of bugged

You mean "Big Poppa," though "Juicy" is, of course, about the rise from rags to riches and should make this list.

"Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis,
When I was dead broke, man, I couldn't picture this,
Fifty-inch screen, money green, leather sofa,
Got two rides, a limousine wit da chauffeur..."

"Goodness gracious the papers,
where the cash at

Started listening to that song right now, so fantastic.
