Got me Proles collection cd last week from some corporate shed.

No class system anymore in Blighty? Right?Hhhhmmm.... In the USA?

This band's songs (especially their 'Indifference' release) stand the test of time imho. Especially musically albeit fairly 'basic'. What a fkin great guitar sound.Fantastic guitar sound.
And prophetic lyrics. Obvious lyrics maybe .So what? 20 years ago.
Things really have not moved on. As if they ever can.

This is the Boston band right? Do you have a link or info or something that might aid me in purchasing the CD?

Thanks. Eight dollars for shipping a CD? Fucking Taang :(

I've only ever heard the song "Allegiance", but if their other stuff is anything similar (strong beat, brash vocals, good lyrics) then it's def. worth it.

where are you?

naus (Robert T), Thursday, 4 August 2005 08:59 (twenty years ago)

The UK. Most CDs from the US ship for about half that

Other great Proletariat songs: "Torn Curtain," "Famine" and "Splendid Wars."
The best thing to have come out of Fall River since Lizzie Borden.

I'll second "Torn Curtain". I was listening to an old MRR radio show I found on Slsk and that song came on, made me take notice anyway!

Mr Mencap. I live in UK too and if memory serves me right, which it often doesn't, I bought the cd through Amazon UK through that Cayman Islands distributor. The cd itself was laughably cheap and I don't think postage was too bad.

I have some of the Proletariat output on vinyl somewhere and I really would be playing that if i wasn't so lazy and had a decent turntable.
I'm sure the second LP was on Homestead but who cares? It's great stuff and I was bowled over by how great it still sounds.

four years pass...

Solid band with some great highlights. I never fell completely for them but enjoy them when they pop up on shuffle.

Yay! It's good that this is easily available on Amazon, both physically and digitally.

There's a nice live/radio set from WERS in Boston (the old Emerson College station). September of 1982. 11 Songs, including the classic "Voodoo Economics." Floats around on line. Worth finding.
