I'm going on seven weeks since my last purchases, Brian Eno and Of Montreal's new ones, and I feel surprisingly . . . at peace.

What is the longest you've held out?

at all? i think the longest was about four weeks nearly 10 years ago. the longest since is probably less than a week.

the last time i went more than a week was when i was visiting my mum and dad in the country last year. and then it was only two weeks.

2 1/2 years. except i sometimes bought things for 99c which i had never heard of to ward off cravings.

Probably close to a year, when I first got to college 4 years ago and discovered Kazaa. I might have bought 1 or 2 used CDs. Still, since I started college in Fall 01, I don't think I've purchased more than 5 new releases, 5 "new" prior releases, and 20 used albums.

Assuming we're including 49c thrift store vinyl, then maybe 2-3 months about a year ago, but it took surgery/incapacitation.

I once went 12 years without buying any music.

Since the age 14-15 'though I doubt if I've ever gone more than a couple of months.

Heh heh, nice answer! (I can relate to that key word "once".) I'd be truly surprised to learn that I'd spent as much as three consecutive purchaseless weeks since '84. Including a three-month period when I was practically broke, six months as a Kazaa subscriber, etc...
