I think AP should be highly commended for his honesty.
I'm not too big on hip-hop either (although I'm diggin' the new Mystikal single, "Bouncin' Back"), but it strikes me that Foxy Brown is a better looking, better-rhyming, but-equally-potty-minded version of the sadly ubiquotous, under-talented, over-hyped, slow-witted Li'L Kim.

But yeah, Foxy: what I've heard of first album = pretty classic, what I've heard of second album = mediocre but not really dud, third album = pretty classic.

the confessional article foxy published in people last week said, i think, that after going stone cold deaf she had gained back 20% of her hearing, ie is now 80% deaf...also included some sad/hilarious anecdotes about being in the studio with jay-z before she realized she was losing her hearing, lipreading and shit...

Alex did you ever hear Broken Silence? It's awesome and has a fair wack of jamaican-influenced stuff. Tip!

Has anyone heard the new album? Nice collection of guests (Movado, AZ, Lady Saw, Spragga Benz, Morgan Heritage, although the awesome Sizzla track from a couple of years back appears to have not made the cut--a sacrifice to Def Jam perhaps.) Apparently she is already disowning it (haha) and plans to release a revamped version shortly.

"Alex did you ever hear Broken Silence? It's awesome and has a fair wack of jamaican-influenced stuff. Tip!"
I have btw. It's awesome. Some of the reviews of the new one are like "yawn BS 2", but to be honest I couldn't complain if that's the case all the dancehall-collabs on the first were nice.
― Alex in SF, Thursday, 29 May 2008 23:27 (seventeen years ago)
The singles from Broken Silence are great (as are those she released in the interim), but the rest of the album is zzzzzzzzz.....
― rev, Thursday, 29 May 2008 23:41 (seventeen years ago)
Totally - to Alex in SF. Rez is entirely off-base. Tracks like "730", "The Letter", "Tables Will Turn", "Hood Scripture", "Run Dem" "Na Na Be Like" and "So Hot" are all pure fire.
In retrospect it was really falling in love with Broken Silence in 2002 that primed me for becoming obsessed with dancehall the following year, as I hadn't followed it too closely before then.
I put "The Letter" on all my back to mine mixtapes. Which is a bit melodramatic but whatevs.
― Tim F, Thursday, 29 May 2008 23:43 (seventeen years ago)
I thought the only singles were "Oh Yeah" and "Candy"? There are a lot more than two good tracks on Broken Silence.
― Alex in SF, Thursday, 29 May 2008 23:45 (seventeen years ago)
And Tim F names most of them ("730", "Tables Will Turn" and "Run Dem" are especially hot.)
― Alex in SF, Thursday, 29 May 2008 23:48 (seventeen years ago)
"Tables Will Turn" and "BK Anthem" were singles, too.
― rev, Friday, 30 May 2008 00:28 (seventeen years ago)
'candy' is a terrible single tho! 730 was on the flip, thats prob my favorite
― deej, Friday, 30 May 2008 01:50 (seventeen years ago)
yeahyeah, agreed with that, mostly talking about "Oh Yeah" and "Tables Will Turn" which are awesome sauce
