There was an WAV file of an excerpt of it going around in my early internet days (95?) cause the tape was being sold at auction. I didn't have a soundcard though, so I never heard it. Apparently it was v.poor sound quality. Wasn't it part of the Troy Tate sessions?

N. -- I have a cd of the Troy Tate Sessions and it is not included there. I'm not 100% sure but I'm thinking that this song was recorded earlier than that.

The version you mentioned is from the 3 song bedroom demo with Morrissey, Marr and Si Wolstencroft as I don't think (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that track made it as far as the sessions.

Opal Records sold a copy (The only copy?) a couple of years ago but I'm not sure who to.

to morrissey? (who probably destroyed it ;-)

No, I know it's not on the normal Troy Tate bootleg. I just seem to remember that it was recorded in those sessions. But I'm probably wrong.

And whatever happened to 'Father & Son'? That's what I want to know.

This makes me as sad as Nick (sob!), but I would like to know too.

The 30 second .wav snippet of the Smiffs covering "I Want a Boyfriend for My Burfday" is at Mrs. Shankly's mp3 of the week site

mp3 of the original Cookies recording is in this directoryhere. Feel free to plunder while ye may.
