"dock of the bay" is great but it's way overplayed. "a change is gonna come" comes very close to being the greatest single ever made.

Ever since that MALCOLM X movie, "A Change Is Gonna Come" comes very close to being as overplayed as "Dock Of The Bay."

I am in the DOTB is overrated camp. I'm often afraid that "Change" is overrated, that it means well but may not really be that good, but I always like it, it always delivers, whoever's singing it, be it Aretha or Richard Manuel or Aaron Neville. Beautiful song.

"Change" for sure. I love Otis even more, but "Dock" is not one of his strongest songs.

BTW, Cooke fans should pick up Peter Guralnick's new book, "Dream Boogie: The Triumph of Sam Cooke," when it comes out next month. I'm hearing great things.
