I'm basically unfamiliar with this band, other than the fact that they're some kind of net-buzz flavor-of-the-moment.]

I also generally hate this sort of music.

But I just saw a re-run of their MTV VMA pre-party performance, and honestly, they fucking rocked. Great, chaotic stage energy, tight without sounding over-professionalized, and even a pretty good song.

I thought they were the net buzz of a couple of years ago. They've got a couple of good songs (ie Parker Lewsis) and countless rubbish songs. IMO.

I felt the same way when I saw that rerun.
Personally, I think "Sugar..." is a fun single, but the album otherwise is disposable.
So, dud, but I'd probably see them live now.

they are not a very Alex in NYC-friendly seeming band, that's for certain. and they're definitely not Alex in SC (aka latebloomer aka moi)-friendly either.

Weird that people are saying such good things about the performance at the VMAs. I saw them on either Letterman or Conan a few months ago, and sort of dug 'em (for one song, at least). But that MTV performance was shitt-ay!

"Sugar" is abysmal. Here's one chorus that doesn't merit being repeated four times in the coda. Give me My Chemical Romance. (Or, rather, don't give me anything of the sort, but if you must, well, then give me MCR).
