The lineup looks like a Was (Not Was) album in hell.

Poor Gina Gershon doesn't get a mention there.

How's the Santana/Angelique Kidjo track? I've been a little interested in Santana since seeing Woodstock for the first time in 10 years or so.

xpost Yeah, it mostly looks dubious for sure. John Mayer?

Does HH still do anything with electronic synths?

No, but the thought of it puts me off my food.

The track with Ag is pretty impressive. She can sing.
Possibilities also includes an awesome syncopated version of Sister Moon with Sting. Hancock and Sting also recorded a delightful cover of My Funny Valentine with Steve Jordan on drums that was unfortunately left off of the cd. oops,...you don't care....you don't really like music played by world class musicians....I forgot that for a moment.

Looks more like a crap Material/Bill Laswell album.

Material? Wasn't that the band that had crazy Whitney Houston and drummer JT Lewis as members? That was a Bill Laswell group? Wow.

You're right, there's absolutely no love for Walter Becker, Donald Fagen, George Benson, Clyde Stubblefield, Walter "Junie" Morrison, Bootsy Collins, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, or
Stevie Wonder 'round these parts. None whatsoever.

If it's anything like Sting's forays into cocktail jazz for the Leaving Las Vegas soundtrack...

this sounds like uber musicianly, boring, adult contemp, typical adult and mature and boring herbie and guests cd. he must be about to die or something. either that or hes trying to kill us.

four months pass...
I just picked this album up and liked it. I think the John Mayer track is the best on the album. Nothing sounded boring to me - each track brings a new style, new players, and new singers, and they're all quality. Herbie's solos and accompaniment are creative and high-energy without showing off, and the arrangements are generally ear-catching. The more jam-style tracks (Santana, Trey) were slightly disappointing for me, but I've listened to the whole thing a lot and enjoyed it every time.

Why did you guys all dismiss this album? Any love from people who have actually listened to the CD?
