I just got this in the mail from the sound scavengers list:

Alex Chilton is OK, someone was at WFMU yesterday who had contact with
him in recent days.

I confirmed with a family member a minute ago on the phone that she
heard from him last night and he is officially safe. We should now
not pursue looking for him further.

She did not have these details about "the coast guard" finding him.
If that is true, then I feel good because I'm the one who called the
coast gaurd on Tuesday, then again Wednesday, then filed a written
Coast Guard report at Home Portal online and then called the
Louisiana State Police and reported for them to check his house again
a day or so ago. Thanks, everyone. -lisa

Me too, selfishly enough, cos I was already starting to work on reviewing the new Big Star album (in Space)and band history too.The latter is titled Big Star: The Short Life, Painful Death, And Unexpected Resurrection Of The Kings Of Power Pop, which was starting to look horribly ironic. But Unexpected Resurrection is the true part,at least I hope!(Having Gary Stewart shoot himself while I was writing about him [maybe he'd heard?] was quite enough; don't want to go through that again.)
