Man, fuck OINK

So I just got booted from OINK for the third time. The first time, I downloaded 2 albums then didn't use it for a few days and got booted.

The second time I downloaded maybe 6 or 7 albums, then got booted three days later. Then when I tried to get back on, they'd just changed it to "invite only".

Then I didn't care for months, but a few days ago I went on their chat and was eventually given an invite. I downloaded about 6 albums, and seeded every one of them for days afterwards.

Non I find I've just been booted again. You know what ? Fuck OINK, man. They don't even really have any more stuff than any other torrent site does. In fact, they have less !

The only thing OINK has going for it is -

1) Speed
2) Being pretentious

For everybody that is scrambling to get an OINK invite, trust me, don't bother. Try Torrent Reactor, Mininova or Torrent Spy instead. They're much better, have more selection and aren't elitist assholes.

Which client are you using? Some don't properly send your upload stats so, as far as the tracker is concerned you are leaching without giving anything back.

I uploaded a ton of shit when I started at OiNK and got an unholy high ratio. Since then, I've just been milking it and now I'm back down to 1.808. Just about time to upload some more new stuff.

The best advice I can give is, as mentioned above, make sure you're using a bug-free client. Likewise, stay as anonymous as possible. The less attention you draw to yourself, the more likely you can come and go as you please.

I'm not from Oink, but being an elitest would keep quality up correct? I mean, look at this board, Pitchfork (brings up shield).

They have some extreme rules at Oink, ones I don't really agree with

This isn't true. You can often find ENTIRE back catalogues of labels - such as Kompakt, Hugg & Pepp, Areal - name me one other tracker where you'll find that?

If you decide once again that it is worth it, try uploading a bunch of stuff in the beginning to build your ratio up, then start DLing stuff. If you've got nothing to upload, then maybe OiNK isn't the place for you anyway.

And yes, they do have good back catalogue, but what I meant by them not having much more was that (for example) when the new Kanye leaked, you could download it from any torrent site. Same with most new leaked albums. In addition, you can download movies, music videos, etc from other torrent sites, but not from OINK.

Rest assured, I won't be going back there. It seemed like such a mythical downloading haven, but eberything I searched for they either didn't have, or I could get it anywhere else (and did, for fear of getting booted for getting it from them). I was downloading from OINK as a last resort, and in the end, it didn't really matter all that much.

Like I said, you've got to upload, not just seed stuff you've downloaded.

One reason I like getting my music from OiNK and not other torrent sites is that the sound quality is always above par. That and I never have to worry about DLing a bunk copy of an album - that stuff get weeded out very quickly.

Somtimes the 192kbps thing is a little irritating, and it not having video stuff is a drawback, but I've had nothing but good experiences w/ OiNK.

Between the 24th of December and the 1st of January GMT (inclusive), downloading will not affect your share ratio in any way.

We will still be recording uploaded amounts, but ignoring downloaded.

This is great. Get what you can, and get those ratios up. I've been getting some things I normally wouldn't get because I've been trying to maintain a good share ratio.

Umm, a little work will get you into oink. I've asked people for invites before on other boards (excluding ilm), but they had none to spare. So I worked for my invite. I spent 2 hours on their irc chat lapping ass to get one. It paid off. If you want to be a part of oink, then I'd suggest you go over there and do the same. Prick.
