Yet again, we are calling on the help of the good people of ilXor.

Just like when we identified every artist on the Daft Punk AND Soulwax versions of Teachers (http://20jazzfunkgreats.blogspot.com/2005/02/teachers-pet.html) were trying for another epic feat of music trainspotter testing.

This time its Jason Forrest aka Donna Summer and his cut up monstermash - My thirty-six favourite punk rock songs which you can download from here (http://20jazzfunkgreats.blogspot.com/2005/09/lord-of-riffs-competition_05.html)

So as the title suggests there are thirty-six ‘classic’ punk rock songs in this 2.22 mins.

Get your punk rock hats on, lets be having it!

I guess it doesn’t have to be in order to start.

Name that tune!

To start the ball rolling :-

Sex Pistols - Holidays in the Sun
Ramones - Blitzkrieg Bop
The Clash - London Calling
Plastic Bertrand - Ca Plan Pour Moi

thats 4 down, only 32 to go.

Is that you, Stuart? Anyway: hints as to which riffs are used come and go like the riffs themselves. There are a few obvious ones (that you've mentioned), but trying to identify each single one would require such close listening it would probably destroy the fun for me. 'Cos it's a fun track! At times it really works, esp. when multiple identical riffs are placed on top of each other and the track seems to gear up into overdrive.

(I just read you contacted Jason for some more info, I hope he's willing to do so)

Yes, it is me!

Unwittingly thought with the amount of nerds and geek out there we would be able to get this, have a few of the finest brains in punk working on it, but yeh maybe knowing each bit may destroy some of the fun :(

And yes we tried to contact Jason and see what the answer is!

Hope he is willing too.
